During my earlier visits, for one reason or another, I have almost always ended up paying out of pocket—regardless of which wellness plan I was enrolled in. Because of those past experiences, during today’s visit I was very careful not to add any services beyond a routine vaccine that should have been fully covered under my wellness plan. At check-in, I was asked to pay for the vaccine. When I pointed out that I was enrolled in a wellness plan, I was told that the previous vaccine had been administered a few weeks early, and therefore, in order to receive the vaccine again, I would need to renew my wellness plan. That renewal was something I would have done anyway when it was actually due in about 2 weeks. I specifically asked the staff member at check-in whether the renewal would begin on the original plan’s natural expiration date, and I was explicitly told that it would. However, after the visit, when I received the renewal paperwork, the renewal date was listed as today’s date—not the original expiration date. As a result, I once again lost coverage time. Over the past four years on their wellness plan, I have now lost approximately six weeks of coverage because renewals are effectively forced early through advanced vaccines and wellness checks. This practice feels misleading and leaves customers paying for time they never actually receive. In summary, while the wellness plans are marketed as cost-saving, the way renewals are handled has repeatedly resulted in lost coverage time and unexpected out-of-pocket costs, making the program difficult to trust. Note: With auto insurance, renewing early does not shorten the policy term—the renewal always takes effect after the current policy expires. It is difficult to understand why a wellness plan renewal should be handled any differently.

My golden retriever became very sick and wouldn't eat, often went outside to rest and slept all day, couldn't walk properly, or breathe properly. Baxter had a check up at this hospital and there was obviously something very wrong with Baxter, but they said his vital were okay and sent him back home. He had stage 5 Lymphoma, and his lungs were 80% filled with fluid as well as an Arrhythmia and fever of 105 degrees. This was 2 days after his checkup in which his symptoms were the exactly the same. A checkup with this hospital couldn't even identify my dog had the most severe symptoms? Did they not test his heart beat? His temperature? Judge his ability to walk? This is insane. If Banfield did their job then my dog could've gotten help quicker, but no it was too late and he was in a position that the vets even recommended us to put him down. This was out of no where and he was only 8 years old. Do not take your pets here, they don't take their job seriously nor care. We came two godanm times to this hospital to check if Baxter was okay and said he was fine and sent him home while he had 200 white blood cells left. Poor baby, I will never forgive this hospital. I hope they do their job after causing the deaths of so many other pets too. My poor baby couldn't even breathe with all the fluid in his lungs and they couldn't even identify an arrhythmia, liver failure, 105 degree fever, or lethargy. Insane. Paid them an enormous amount as well then they call on the day of his death that there is something wrong with him. Are we serious?? We came in twice and you want to tell us on the day he died??

While sobbing and holding my dead 9-year-old dog in my arms, who died on my lap on the way to the vet, I asked about cancelling my wellness plan. They told me they'd give me phone number to call. I called the number, and the gentleman told me I had to pay the remaining 10 months on my wellness plan. This felt like salt in the wound, and I didn't have the emotional energy to fight it. I paid the $1100 and will never go back or recommend Banfield to anyone.

We had 3 very elderly dogs. And when it came their times to go which was over a span of 18 months as they were within a year in age of each other, the Vets at Banfield were very kind and sympathetic. They all passed peacefully when it was their time to go. Their care by the Banfield Cary (on Walnut St.) team before their passings was extremely attentive and good. And our new mini schnauzer puppy is being well cared for as well. We are very grateful for all they have done for us and our pets.
