While I’ve had positive experiences with this vet in the past, I can no longer recommend them. On a recent visit, our cat’s shots were mixed up with those prepared for another pet. Our cat was given a high dose of a steroid instead of what was prescribed. The vet assured us that the dosage was still within an acceptable limit—just at the highest end of the dosage spectrum. One of the side effects of administering too high a dose of the steroid is heart failure. The way this office is managed was shocking—the mix up of the shots, not being given any paperwork on the visit until I went back in and asked for it (had to wait quite a long time to get it), and no one from the office called me to see if our cat was okay following the visit. I’m extremely disappointed by the vet’s lack of professionalism, oversight of her staff, the lack of process around checking prescriptions, and the lack of integrity and care. Being licensed to prescribe medications comes with a huge responsibility. I don’t believe the vet who saw our cat meets the standards required to hold such a license.

The staff and vets at the hospital were very kind and helpful! I had forgotten some meds for my dog when visiting Asheville and they were able to quickly help me to get them refilled them after a short visit. Dr. Mays was especially kind to my pooch during the vet visit.
Really nice folks there!

We always have a great visit! Dr. Duncan and the staff are always attentive and kind. My dog feels comfortable with them and always gets the best care at a reasonable price.

Very poorly/incompetently managed office on a Saturday afternoon. They gave us an appointment time of 2:30 pm and we got multiple audio/text notifications days before about it etc and we showed up at 2:20 pm got checked in right way and then they made my dog and I wait in a hot/windowless examination room with no information as to when our dog would be seen. After 30 minutes of extreme discomfort inside that room, On requesting information, the office manager essentially said she had no idea when the Vet would be free etc. They seem to not value or care for a Customers time. I am sure they are all hard working but they need some training in customer care. My dog started to get hot and they did not even bother to bring her some water or at least give me some information about what was going on. Meanwhile a bunch of people sat around in the front office area doing nothing when they could have been more forthcoming about the fact that our appointment would be delayed due to some emergency etc. Maybe they could have rescheduled us when they realized that their vet could not see us at appointed time etc. Maybe it is a bit too much to ask for civility and courtesy and competence at this place? I should add the seating arrangements inside the examination room likely had not been cleaned since some time ago and I point this as evidence of the low standard of customer care and I was about to pay them $392.00 for the privilege of this “exceptional customer” experience! And this business has prices completely disconnected from the quality it aspires to deliver. We are long term customers willing to pay (that is not the issue here) but the quality of care delivered was extremely poor/negligent.. being charitable here. The temperature in their tiny exam room caused extreme stress on my dog not to mention the filthy seating arrangement..
As a practice.. I always look at the most recent negative reviews and positive reviews of a business and it appears that both could be true on any given day of this business. FWIW, I am ONLY reviewing my experience TODAY at their business.
