Wow, I actually came to Banfield for help about 8 years ago when my dog was dying and I couldn’t get adequate assistance for med refills or any follow up support to provide a comfortable passing at the vet office we had used since he was a puppy. I know they need more space, but my vet is great. You have to evaluate the plans based on need. New puppy who would be spayed within the year; I saved all kinds of money. Have needed the plan for surgical procedures or an older pet in poor health who requires unexpected care. I agree the desk staff can change, but my vet doesn’t push expensive procedures. They do lead with cost information/ estimates so you aren’t shocked if you don’t have insurance. Most people aren’t used to paying out of pocket for medical procedures. The plans are a bit like insurance. Wait and talk to the vet if you aren’t sure.
The care we have received for our 3 dogs has been good. Not planning on a change as long as Dr. Mason works there.Have had different techs, but they’ve all been caring. I’ve always been called to check on my pet after any procedure usually by both the desk and my vet. It’s not a perfect place, but no where is. Wait for a room if you have lots of questions and don’t feel comfortable dropping off. We do drop off for routine procedures. I think it’s supposed to make vaccines and routine testing easier if you’re working , have multiple pets or you’re really busy.

I request a room rather than drop off because I live to far the vet used to come in and do all the shots and evaluation in the room. Now I sit alone in there for an hour while they take my dog in the back room

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
