I brought my dog Pablo to Petco for what they diagnosed as an eye infection. They gave us medication and sent us on our way.
Fast-forward three weeks: Pablo’s eye is significantly worse.
So I call them, and their solution? Pay for another full visit so they can try again.
Excuse me?
They misdiagnosed my dog, gave ineffective medication, and now want more money to fix their own mistake. My previous vet would never pull something like this — if the meds didn’t work, they simply had us come back and provided new treatment. You paid for the medicine, not a second round of incompetence.
This feels less like veterinary care and more like a cash grab.
If you actually care about your pets, do yourself a favor and stick with a locally owned, family vet who treats animals like patients — not transactions. Franchise vets like this clearly prioritize profits over proper care

I brought my leopard gecko (Cracker) here at the beginning of 2025 due to an upper respiratory infection and moth rot. I addressed both issues with the vet but was only sent home with medication for the respiratory infection. I noticed that one of his eyes was consistently gouped up with discharge and crusties and his mouth rot was more pronounced. A few weeks later I called and asked for a recheck, in which they did not honor, so I scheduled another exam through them and payed full price. I was sent home with no medications. I was told that in time the eye would be fine and to keep it clean from any debris and that he was not concerned with the mouth rot. I noticed Cracker wasn’t doing good and called again to try and get a recheck at a discounted price since I had brought him twice over the same issues and was told that since I wasn’t satisfied with their care I should find someone else to look at him. I spoke to one of petcos managers about the situation at hand and was told that “maybe it was his time”. I had spent $250+ on Cracker to be seen by them. Trusted them with my beloved 13 year old pet leopard gecko. All for him to die. I miss him very much. I have had him since I was a child. Trusted a well known place to help me with him but instead got turned away after their negligence. Do not bring your exotics here. They are a corporate, Monty hungry office that don’t value the people or animals that come into their office.
I since then have made a report to the BBB and have been playing phone tag with the vet that over sees this location. Trying to come to a resolution of what happened. I have left my email, phone number as well as hours that I am available to talk before or after school and work. But not much of an effort has been made. I am extremely disappointed in the service that they have to offer.
