Banfield Richmond Heights charges a premium for routine veterinary care, which we were happy to pay because we assumed that we would get what we paid for. We were wrong. The ongoing care was mediocre at best - they were constantly coming up with excuses not to perform basic routine parts of his periodic exams. Most recently, they overlooked a serious case of double pneumonia in my young healthy dog. We visited twice and called more times than I can count. At one point, their phones were just not working at all and so I had to call another location who promised to text the office manager and told me to expect a call back. Crickets. No one is perfect and sometimes doctors miss things. They can’t be infallible. But I strongly believe this error (that could have caused my dog his life) resulted from lack of diligence and communication. We obviously will not be back.

The best Banfield in the STL area! I used to go to a different Banfield but I had to do a last minute appointment here a few years ago. They were so kind that I immediately made this our primary vet! The staff goes above and beyond to take care of my dogs! They are great at answering questions and never try to “oversell” you on anything. Also they work seamlessly with chewy for prescriptions which is a big bonus!

8/25/25: I took my puppy Luna to the Brentwood Banfield location because she had been puking for the past 2 days, she got prescribed antibiotics and nausea medication but she wasn't holding any of it down as she continued puking. 8/27/25: I brought her in to the Richmond Banfield location for another GI exam at an in-office visit. She hadn't eaten in 2 days, lost 1 lb and she was still puking. Upon examining her, Dr. Amy L Kern said she was "just a picky eater" and sent us home. 8/28/25: still puking and not eating, I took her to the Banfield location in Brentwood again and they did X-rays (it's been a week and I'm still waiting for the radiologist report) but Dr. Megan Taylor couldn't figure out what she had either. 8/29/25: I brought her to the ER in VSS in Manchester where they requested the Banfield records and clearly noticed she had an obstruction. She ended up needed an emergency surgery. Needless to say I won't be renewing her Banfield Petcare package.
