This is a great little store. Unfortunately, I was looking for fish and this was not the place for me.

On (12/29/25 at around 2:00pm) I visited the Petco In Lees Summit, MO (# 01603). I normally have a great, friendly experience. However, for my past few visits there has been a new employee there whose behaviors have made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome visiting the store.
The groomers name is Denise. On occasion, she has acted like there is a problem with my account. Today, she tried to skip over me when I was next in line (the other customer told her that I was next, as she had been ignoring me up until that point).
She then out of the blue suggested that I go to the thrift store & buy a dog tote for just $10 (I guess the one I have isn't good enough). She didn't suggest I buy one from Petco, but the thriftstore. It was a totally inappropriate comment to make to a customer. It came across as condescending.
She then made an off the cuff remark that my dogs hair was matted around the collar, (which it wasn't because I checked when I got home). This remark did not come across as trying to be helpful, but more condescending.
I watched how friendly she was with the customer she helped before me, as well as the customer who was waiting to be helped after me, but with me she was only unkind. I was sincerely concerned about handing my dog over to her. I was glad to know that another groomer provided my dogs services.
I spoke with the Manager (Bailey) who was very professional, listened to my concerns, and spoke with both myself and Denise together. I appreciated her efforts. Bailey's help is the kind of service that I have grown to appreciate and expect from Petco.

I arrived approximately an hour and a half early for my dog’s scheduled appointment after calling ahead to confirm that early drop-off was acceptable. I waited at the grooming counter for about 5 minutes, no one acknowledged my presence or indicated that they would assist me with a simple hand gesture. They clearly seen me, but continued to engage in the conversation amongst themselves which felt uncomfortable and unprofessional.
After waiting nearly two and a half hours following drop-off, I received a call to inform me that my dog could not be groomed due to skin irritation. I then requested that only his face be trimmed, particularly since the concern was related to hot clippers, but this request was also declined without a clear explanation. The lack of communication throughout this process only reinforced my initial impression that there was little willingness to assist.
Additionally, Tiffany a manager I spoke to over the phone would benefit from further training in customer service and active listening skills, as communication during our interaction was poor.
When I arrived, I asked to speak with the manager on duty, I was directed to Adrien. Unfortunately, the interaction lacked professionalism, engagement, and basic customer service. He was pretty spaced out!
This experience raises concern, as it did not reflect the level of professionalism or service one would expect from Petco’s management team. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve customer interactions moving forward.

It was the day for Santa I read the wrong time , 2 hours early and had to go out of town, Teresa a manager asked if I was there for photos and I explained my situation she said wait 10 minutes- she had an employee dress as Santa and took our photo! Did this for ONE customer on a busy Saturday! The Santa was a beautiful girl and the manager took my photos - that’s customer service!!! I am so thankful to her ! I hope she gets recognized! Her and Santa ! Thanks for going the extra distance for me !

The worse place to get your fur baby groomed at. Incompetent and unprofessional staff . Went in and to have a feet face and fanny done And they butchered my baby. Also paid for a nail trim and dremmel which was not done. Had to call them and take him back to get it done., very inconvenient as I work 2 jobs. Waste of my gas and time . Please Just take your baby elsewhere.
