Honestly I'd give them more stars as most of their employees are pretty good but I can't. This girl RUINED this store for us. Today at about 1:40 In the afternoon (October 5th 2025 Cape Girardeau, MO), my husband and I were in the store to price some reptile enclosures for the next ball python we plan to add to our scaled family. We decided to look at the ball pythons as well in case they had the morph we wanted. But we noticed there were TONS of shed pieces in the snake tanks. Which is caused by lack of proper humidity and the snake not shedding properly. A VERY COMMON MISTAKE! I even made that mistake in the beginning. But my husband said one of the tanks humidity was dangerously low at 37%. Ball pythons require between 60-80%.The store was basically empty maybe 3 other shoppers. We were alone in that area though talking to eachother at a normal level. We just let it go, its my birthday weekend and not looking for drama. So we walk out of the isle to look at the enclosures when I told my husband "I just wish pet stores didn't get animals they dont properly know how to/not properly trained on how to take care of, as its not fair to the animals".. We heard a literal screech. "EXCUSE MEEEE!!!??" come from the isle we were just in. We didn't realize the person was speaking to us and actually jumped because she was so loud and didnt know she was there. But she chased us through the store and began YELLING at us, cornering us in the aquatic section, claiming we "need to get out of her store and we are making a scene". We asked her what the problem was and she said she heard what I said. I told her we are not making a scene, and had she not been coming down the aisle as I said it, that SHE wouldnt have even heard us as it wasnt meant to be a public conversation. She had no response. I told her I meant no harm by it as most people dont know the proper care of ball pythons. That unfortunatly offended her as she claimed she is the one to "mist" the snakes. We just tried to help her since she says its her job to care for them and told her there is nothing wrong with at least listening to advice from people who own and care for ball pythons. My husband and I calmly inform her that its not good to mist them, as its a temporary solution to humidity and evaporates very quickly. Its best to wet/soak their substrate in order to maintain humidity to survive and shed properly or they can die, or become blind from eye caps being stuck and not knowing to remove them. In bad cases can cause respiratory infections.. she just continued to scream at us no matter how calmly we tried to de-escalate her. She pulled out her phone and threatened to call police on us!! So my husband again trying to stay calm, asks her why she wants to kick us out or threaten to call the police when we aren't threatening her and havent done anything wrong except talk to eachother and shop peacfully. To which she responds "you are two full grown adults, and that's threatening." Yet she wasnt 'threatened' by us enough to not yell at us across the store and chase us down, then go on to cause a scene? All because she couldnt admit that she MIGHT not be right and MIGHT not know how to properly maintain humidity. I mean she couldve even lied and said "I know but it's company policy to mist them".. ANYTHING other than how she reacted. But we decided to be the bigger people. I began to walk away to find a manager and told my husband as much, but she had a response for that too. Apparently she was the manager on duty. My husband said no, we want to speak to the STORE manager. To which she said she was...at that moment. My husband told her that makes her manager on duty, not store manager. So we asked the man up front for a number to call. We got home empty handed and called corporate. Expecting a call tomorrow. I hope they got her chasing us down and making a fool of herself on camera. So disappointed. After almost 6 years I guess we won't be shopping there anymore. Didn't catch her name as her yelling was very distracting. Very young, thin, and blonde. All we know.
