I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience at Banfield Pet Hospital and will not be returning. I dropped my dogs off at 7:30 AM—one for a dental cleaning with anesthesia and vaccines, and the other for a routine checkup and vaccines. I personally checked them in and confirmed that my phone number was the contact number. My number was also written on their clinic collars. I waited all day with no updates. Around 2:00 PM, I finally called for a status update, only to be told by Dr. Lyerly that she had already called me an hour earlier. This was simply not true—I had no missed calls or voicemail and I had my phone with me constantly. When I questioned this, I was then told she had contacted the primary account holder (my husband), which was also not true. He received no call or voicemail either. This is especially concerning given that I was the one who checked them in and provided my contact information. This is the second time I’ve experienced communication issues like this at this location. What is most disappointing is not just the lack of communication, but being given conflicting and inaccurate explanations when I asked about it. When a pet is under anesthesia, timely and accurate communication is not optional—it is essential. This experience has completely eroded my trust in Dr. Lyerly and Banfield in general, and we will no longer be doing business here. I strongly encourage management to address these issues so other pet owners do not have a similar experience.

*Update - sent email && no attempt of contact back. * If I could honestly give negative stars I would. The Banfield in Omaha was amazing, the one here in Waite Park MN is a joke. They started out great, by examining my pets in front of me, and same with shots but that changed dramatically. They started taking my animals to the back && when asked they said that that’s their new policy. My biggest fear happened, on April 23rd 2025, where I had to put my beloved doggy/best friend down. We were told she was on oxygen, and the vet came in and told us the news what had to happen. We thought we would be able to say a proper goodbye? Yeah, I wish. They brought me in a dead dog. This was NOT okay. I used Banfield as a regular vet, but learned the hard way not to. The wellness plans are nothing but a joke and a way to just put $ in their pocket. Had 2 wellness plans with them - one for an older dog and another for a puppy.. What’s included in that $85 charge a month ?! Not shit! Besides the spaying. Nothing but a joke. Even with this plan each time we went in, was over $250. We never were informed a price until we were at checkout. I will not be going back. If I have to go to an emergency vet , I will look elsewhere! Also, just brought my 2 cats in to get seen at my old vet && for 2 exams, 2 rabies shots, 2 distemper shots, gabapentin for one’s anxiety, and then a full bath on one && it was $246. Banfield is a rip off . And not to mention, there’s only one staff member at this location that actually cares about the animals and the client. I’m not sure of her name- but she’s not the vet vet, but is the one that comes into the room before && she has I think brown hair and glasses and been there for a while, but could be wrong on image description. I will never be able to forgive you, for not letting me say goodbye to my baby. Even if it was in the back on oxygen, I should of still been offered.

Trip 45 minutes away and first time in Waite Park appointment cancelled. Second trip was told too early for vaccines when I specifically asked prior to appointment. Didn’t even get refills my pet needed because wanted to avoid high exam required for renewal prescription. And…… wellness plan members please read fine print. My previous dog’s plan renewed in March and he passed in April but still had to pay for the entire year. What a scam. Will be moving my business local.

The staff at the hospital were friendly and helpful, but the wellness plan they push on you is a complete scam. Spend $75 a month to save $100 off $800 in lab costs and if your pet dies you can't cancel. You must pay the $75 a month until the plan renews or that amount in a bulk sum to cancel the plan. It also seems that if you cancel you no longer save that $100 in labs costs, that gets added back in to what you owe.

The costs at this place are astronomical compared to places nearby. The cost of an office visit is $75, almost 2x the cost of nearby office visits, and the vet tech exam is $57 (still more than an office exam with a doctor at nearby vets)! That meant a single FVCRP booster shot was $100 for me, which was a nightmare. I give 2 stars because the staff was kind and helpful, but they overcharge you here by A LOT and I don't like that they pressure you to buy their "plan."
