I have had the Banfield wellness plan for my pets for over 20 years in multiple states. I moved to Minnesota in May and have had nothing but extremely negative, UNPROFESSIONAL interactions with the staff in Minnetonka. Everything from being hung up on by a vet During a Tele call, refusing to treat my dog during business hours multiple times because they are “busy”, a vet tech yelling at me and acting aggressively with me in the lobby, never having a vet available to see so you have to drop off only or see a tech, vets not calling back to answer questions, and too many more issues to list out here. I have never met or interacted with such rude and incompetent people in my life. Certainly never in the veterinary space - I always assume everyone is working together in the best interest of the Animals, but that is just not the case with these Banfield employees. Until moving here, I have only had wonderful experiences with Banfield in Texas, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, and Seattle. I escalated my concerns about the staff to the medical director, Dr. Hog, who after three months, finally called me today and proceeded to find every excuse in the book for the staff’s poor behavior. She told me that I was speaking about the staff disrespectfully - Mind you what I said to her is what I am writing in this review. I said that I have had negative interactions with the staff and that there has been a lot of incompetence and a sense of the staff appearing not to understand Customer service, combined with lack of proper care and continuity of care for my dog. They do not understand that the parents are just as important as the patient. Dr. Hog’s reaction to what I said was to get defensive and argue with me to the point where I finally told her that I could not continue speaking with her as she was clearly part of the problem. She was only interested in making excuses. I literally fell down the rabbit hole and felt like Alice in Wonderland when she turned it all around because she started “giving feedback to me”. Imagine you call to tell a leader what your concerns are and they listen only to give YOU feedback. Her ego is too big to fit anywhere that humility and open-mindedness can be found. Mind you there was no cussing / yelling or anything that should cause a normal person to feel “disrespected”. Just a shameless / egotistical set of fragile people who clearly don’t care about customer service much less the PETS at all - and on top of that are not organized or able to execute basic administrative functions. Since I’ve been with the plan so long and had no problem until now, I will give corporate a chance to look into this, but most likely I will just cancel my membership and find a real vet. This place should be ashamed of themselves. The culture is terrible and it goes straight to the top to their local medical Director, Dr Hog. They are exactly the group of people that the expression “ashamed of nothing and offended by everything” was coined. Still shaking my head after the phone call with Dr. Hog. I’m absolutely disgusted. I usually only write positive reviews, but I had to make a big exception for Dr Hog and company. She said she did not like my “choice of words” (same as I have written here). I told her that that’s because you don’t want the truth. You and the staff lack self-awareness, so you will not be able to change because listening to understand, not to defend, is the required first step. I encourage anyone who has had a bad experience to write about it and also to contact both Banfield corporate and Mars, the parent company. People like Dr. Hog and her staff should not be allowed to care for our pets and we certainly shouldn’t have to be treated with disdain after paying for their services. Our pets do not have human voices so we must speak for them.

The staff is always so friendly and happy to see our dog! They are also responsive and consistently look to give us an answer to our questions and potential options for what to do with any health concerns.

They answer the phones with "how can we help your pet today." Well they didn't help her yesterday and they're not prioritizing helping her today. Optimum Unwellness is their plan? I called the clinic yesterday at 5pm and waited on the phone for over 20 minutes. I hung up and called the Eden Prairie location. After brief hold, the nice lady on the phone said I had to speak with the people at Minnetonka. I called Minnetonka at 5:45pm I waited on hold for over 12 minutes. She brought up the accounts and saw five prescriptions for my dog that were never called in after her appointment months ago. The pharmacy had already reached out to the clinic last week to get the prescription from them directly. They did not have any success and my dog is now on day 3 without her Prozac which you cannot stop abruptly. She said now that it's closing time, it was now 6:00, she would call the pharmacy but wouldn't wait on hold very long. She said she would do it first thing in the morning before they opened. From the low priority of taking care of their customers I'm certain she never even attempted last night I just called 9:10 and I was put on hold, the lady said "is this for Winter, which is my dog, and I said yes. She said I haven't had a chance to call it in because we had people call out and I don't know when I'll get to it today. I told her that my dog is not acting well and I need her to please do it ASAP as she lectured me that I need to call at least 7 days prior to needing the prescription called in. I told her yesterday that Walgreens had reached out directly to them over a week ago. I told her that the dog fell off the couch and is acting bizarre and she said if you cut me off I'm going to hang up the phone. I did not raise my voice, I did not cut her off I was just telling her the dire necessity of needing to do it ASAP. They take money out of our account every single month and we barely utilize the plan. I have had pets on this plan for well over 20 years. I have never had anyone tell me it's my fault instead instead of I will get to it right away. And here my poor dog sits staring off into Oblivion

We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
