  I don’t normally post negative reviews I find them unproductive. However I’m posting this in hopes if others have had the same experience with this employee that perhaps something will change. On two separate occasions we have been to the Apple Valley location to pick up our order. An employee by the name of Garrett was at the counter. The first encounter we inquired about a promotion that was advertised online that when you spent a certain amount over ($50) you could pick a free toy up to $10 value. We have 6 pets so our orders are always over $50 yet it wouldn’t let us add the toy to our online pick up order. When we asked Garrett about the promotion he said it wasn’t valid instore. When we pushed harder he went over and grabbed a $4 toy off the shelf and threw it on the counter. When we explained the toy he chose wasn’t going to work with our 60lb dogs he got short and rude. BTW not that it matters but we spend a significant amount at Petco monthly. A $10 toy as a perk is just that. On to our next encounter. We recently went in to pick up our order of cat and dog food. Upon reaching home we realized they pulled the wrong “flavor” or food. The gave us lamb instead of salmon. The bag looks identical I can see how this mistake could happen. However the inconvenience we had to go back to make the exchange. We get Garrett again at the counter. He proceeds to tell my husband he cannot do the exchange and cannot find our order with our phone number look up. Then he offered to do the exchange but with a $25 difference in cost. My husband left and went home to get me and we went back up with our receipt. This time greeted by Tanner. Who quickly was able to not only look up our account with our phone number but also do the exchange with no additional cost to us and apologize for the mix up. That my friends is what we call customer service and retention. I’m not sure what has happened but clearly Garrett has lost sight of those two key factors in retail. Thank you Tanner for your amazing customer service and and petco if you are reading this give him a raise he is a keeper.

  My go to for crickets. Always has what I need in stock and I love all the animals they carry. Good deals and friendly atmosphere.

  I took my dog to get groomed and not only did I feel like it wasn’t a safe space for my dog the employees were incredibly rude. It took about 10 minutes to get someone’s attention to get checked in. It is run poorly, the staff are not well trained and I left very upset. I will no longer be taking my dog here and encourage you to do the same.

  Stop by to pick up my dogs pumpkin supplement. First no one anyone to be seen. All associates we clustered together talking. Never was greeted. Then my supplement was labeled 19.99 went to ring up finally someone seen I was in the store. They came up front rang my up the price rang 24.99 not 19.99 by this time I was frustrated with the lack of customer service I just paid and left. So bad customer service and price gouging not an all together great experience. Do better PETCO. Just because people love their pets doesn't mean we should have bad service because you are not the only show in town. I use to tell people to shop there not your big competitor but. It is starting to feel like a swap in experiences.
