If I could give ZERO stars I would. My sister took her senior dog (17) in for a follow up visit to receive some IV fluids. They brought her out from the back and they had cut the hair on her ears down to the skin WITHOUT my sister’s consent. Not only did they cut the hair on her ears without consent they nicked both her ears!!! DO NOT take your pet there. This is animal cruelty. Here are some before and after pictures. I pray this doesn’t happen to anyone else.
UPDATED RESPONSE TO MICHIGAN AVENUE ANIMAL HOSPITAL:
For further context, this is a 17-year-old senior dog who had recently fallen ill. During that time, grooming was understandably not the priority while we focused on her health and comfort.
Especially with a senior dog, owners must be fully informed and involved in decisions that affect their pet’s body and quality of life.
She had been examined at this same clinic just three days prior (see the picture of her on the examination table), and at that time, my sister was not informed of any emergency, urgency, or immediate need for ear intervention.
While matting can certainly cause discomfort, this does not negate the central issue: no consent was obtained, no emergency was explained, and no opportunity was given to discuss options before a permanent alteration was made.
At the time her ears were cut (and not with care as she was nicked on both of her ears), my sister was physically present at the clinic, waiting in her vehicle, and had been informed there would be a short wait for IV fluids. There was ample opportunity for the doctor or staff to communicate, obtain consent, or discuss alternatives. No emergency was conveyed.
Acknowledging after the fact that communication “should have been clearer” confirms that informed consent did not occur.
Bottom line - This was not an emergency. The owner was on-site. Consent was easy to obtain. Your clinic chose not to ask!
I firmly believe my concern is legitimate and hope that this incident leads to meaningful changes in consent and communication practices so that other families are not put in a similar situation.

I should have read the recent reviews first, all are one stars. I was absolutely clear when I made the appointment that I only wanted vaccinations. Well the female vet is just obnoxious. She did not listen to a single word I said. After I am paying for two office visits she writes up estimates for around $800 of tests and other things that I know I don't need right now. Because my young dog is not quite spayed yet she demanded that I get X-rays and tests saying that she could be pregnant, when she absolutely could not possibly be pregnant. She has never been around a dog that could impregnate her. She also claimed my dogs have fleas, when I absolutely know they do not. So I paid the office visits and left without any care, because this woman was not someone I will ever let near my dogs. Now I have to go pay for two new office visits, just to get away from these con artists.

This hospital constantly floods my inbox with spam. I never subscribed to their newsletter and even replied, "Please stop." (This didn't help.) Unprofessional

I made an appointment by email. I received an email "Appointment Confirmation". I arrived 15 minutes early to the appointment and found the place closed. Everyone was GONE. My kitten and I were not happy. Neither of us enjoyed the ride. When we got back home, I looked through my email to see if they had canceled, due to an emergency. No, they did not. Something is not right with this place.

If I could leave negative stars I would. The service is horrible and they are extremely overpriced for such poor service. I made an appointment and waited over 2 hours which is insane however it was late and my cat was sick and needed to be seen. For a neutering surgery it was roughly $800 which is way overpriced (I changed to a different vet for $180 and amazing service). They are nearly impossible to get in contact with and the lady who works the desk is extremely rude and and super unhelpful.
Overall I would never recommend anyone coming here.
