I would not recommended any Banfield pet hospital location, but I have received most of my care from the Southfield location. I want to firstly say that I think most of the staff of this location is a dedicated care team trying their best in an understaffed system. All of my appointments there, there's been 1 person working the front desk and wait times for in office appointments were upwards of an hour with me seeing the actual vet for ~10 minutes. The waiting rooms are crowded and are particularly stressful for nervous cats with all of the barking dogs. I have a 7 year old cat that has been under Banfield's care that they have just completely missed the mark on. He's seen them twice in the last year. Once for a general checkup, and I once came to them with concerns he wasn't acting like himself or finishing his food. I requested a blood panel, which came back normal. In the comprehensive exams on both instances (6 months apart) they only noted that his ears were dirty. They assured me it wasn't mites and I shouldn't worry about it, just should clean them more often, which I did. When we came for him not finishing his food and not acting like himself, the vet (whose name I can't remember), dismissed my concerns completely. It was the last appointment of the day and she seemed very rushed and ready to go home. She said he looked healthy other than some "normal" ear debris and said he was probably just depressed, which was why he wasn't finishing his food. Fast forward 5 months, I decided to seek a second opinion because he still wasn't food motivated. The new vet I took him to was shocked. He has late stage feline resorptive lesions in his back molars, which is a random, progressive, incredibly painful condition in cats where the teeth reabsorb back into the gum. Their estimate is his teeth probably started this process at least a year ago. He received full comprehensive exams (including teeth checkups) from Banfield TWICE during that time, and I was told his teeth looked healthy and normal both times. The new vet also looked at his ear and were immediately concerned, they agreed it wasn't ear mites but they ran a test (that Banfield had never offered or suggested to run) and that revealed that he has a severe ear infection in that ear and the symptoms of it are this abnormal discharge (that Banfield told me to clean but not to worry about.) Due to the severity of the infection and how long I described he's been having this discharge, they think the infection has gone past the outer ear and into the middle and inner structures of the ear and he has most likely partially or completely lost his hearing in this ear. I am inexpressibly frustrated and disappointed at the seeming complete inadequacies of the exams that were performed on my cat by Banfield. I am now spending multiple thousands of dollars for dental surgery and coming in for weekly treatments for his severe ear infection. Most frustrating of all, my cat has been in pain and discomfort for at least a year. I went to Banfield with these concerns, and was totally dismissed. He has now also lost hearing from something completely preventable. I have cancelled my Optimum Wellness Plan for my other cat and do not intend to return to Banfield, and would warn others about the quality of the care they are receiving.

I have nothing but good things to say about Banfield. They treat my Gracie as if she were their own. They explain things very clearly so that I can easily understand what's going on and what to expect.
