They care deeply about the animals, about who they sell them to, and about the breeders they work with. Nothing feels rushed or careless. There’s intention behind everything they do. Their selection of fish and live plants is incredible, easily one of the best I’ve seen. The staff is knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced aquarist. This is what ethical, responsible pet ownership support should look like. If you care about animals being treated with respect and knowledge, this is the place.

Or if the employee was having a rough day, I was always treated kindly and patiently, all of my questions were answered thoroughly and clearly. I highly recommend this exotic pet store, even if it’s just to learn about animals, or just enjoy the beautifully crafted interior, or even have a birthday party that you can schedule. But if you have the means to adopt an animal and give it a forever home please do, they are all very well taken care of and loved here. So stop by if you can, and be kind to the employees and respect the rules posted, they are there for good reason. Like no dogs in the bird area, that’ll just cause unnecessary stress for the birds and overexcite your sweet pup. Anyway, best pet store I’ve ever been to out of the 100 I’ve visited in my life. Including the ones I worked at or volunteered for. (Not paid to post any this, I just genuinely adore this store and the love and care they provide for these animals.)

But the staff is knowledgeable, kind, always friendly, and just phenomenal to ask questions to. I have loved coming here with my patents and now my kids love it too. I highly recommend.

Their selection of hard goods could be better, but you’ll never come across another pet store that has a better selection or cares for their animals better than Preuss. The reptile section is probably most impressive to me, as every tank looks zoo quality with an incredible number of places to hide and things to climb. The selection of freshwater fish is astounding and they have some of the best birds in the area. A true treat that this store is here.
