FRAUD ALERT.
If you see it say anywhere, that the first visit is free…… it is a Lie. The first visit is how they sign you up for a $900+ plan, $170-200 on the spot with reoccurring payments you “can’t cancel” without being charged “for the services used”. But $500 is charged up in things you never asked for in the very first “free” visit.
Nice people, but not so great/honest marketing or business practices.
Update 4 weeks later:
I reached out via email, as requested here.
The response was: so sorry, call the store.
I spoke with Banfield billing as well as the store manger. And she very rudely informed me, for the first time, when their vet insisted I select a “plan” to lower the up front cost of my 6lb dog’s necessary vaccines………apparently my agreement to a plan meant they would also add a bunch of unnecessary things to the bill too.
This experience has been absolutely awful, the ultimate bait and switch. Now my dog still has vaccines he needs weeks later, that I have to pay for out of pocket somewhere else because even for all I’ve already paid those still aren’t covered AND I still have to pay this wicked corporate company an additional $300 just to cancel the plan. (If I don’t, the total would be nearly $1000 over the next year).
And despite making it clear that they charged me for things I did not ask for, they refuse to alter the $500 charged up in one visit.
Zero customer service, just, pushing me to keep the plan.
To be clear, the care my dog actually needed could have been just $150-200 at a local vaccine clinic. Not $500+.
Christmas, while healing from major surgery, might be light for my family this year thanks to this FRAUDULENT company!
I am sharing so hopefully others can learn about their unacceptable practices, before it’s too late.

It breaks my heart to write this (because I hate complaining and calling people out) but this location has been nothing short of an absolute nightmare. Jackson, the Manager/Supervisor, is one of the most incompetent, uncaring, and ill-equipped managers I've ever seen in my life. As a service vet, having my dog cared for properly means everything (I suffer from PTSD) and if I am not the one to bring Nala in, my wife does. But both of us have concluded that we are going to make a trek to visit another location. THIS LOCATION IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. Rooms are filthy, stepping over dog piss, front desk staff is aloof and won't greet you unless you do a song and dance. My wife - on several occasions - has experience straight-up gaslighting from both Jackson and Drs. Moore and Dowersett (sp?). Nala has a lot of gastro issue and each time we ask about changing her diet or meds, we're told "do not worry." Most recently, my wife called because Nala had blood in her stool, and the front desk person was completely unbothered by the fact that their only available appointment was within the next 30 min due to a cancellation. My wife dropped everything and when she arrived, front desk and Jackson indicated that no such appointment was made. HUH????? My wife said that since she was already there, she'd be willing to wait until there was a break and be somewhat "waitlisted." Jackson immediately became condescending and aggressive with her, telling her that he was the manager and well-aware of how to run things. I lost it when my wife shared this. I called Jackson and he proceeded to deny, deny, deny. When I came in person, his entire demeanor changed and all that aggression he had for a woman was suddenly gone. In summary, DO NOT GO TO THE OLNEY BANFIELD LOCATION. As an owner, you will be ignored and gaslit and as a pet, you will remain sick. Thankfully, we met a new vet yesterday and we're already seeing improvements in Nala's appetite and bowels. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION TO ANYONE, NOT EVEN MY WORST ENEMY. TRASH!!!!!!!!

This location is a nightmare. Front desk staff ignores you when you walk in, doesn't listen to reasons why you come in, and the so-called Manager, Jackson, needs some SERIOUS managerial refreshers. DO NOT COME TO THIS LOCATION. Between misdiagnoses to inconsistency with quality of care from vets, nothing is operating effectively at this location. I had heard rumors about this location but we live in Brookeville so it's convenient. Never again will we bring our dogs here, especially since one is senior and TRULY needs quality doctors who care and know how to deal with aging dogs. We've complained to Jackson and he deflects and tries to imply that because he's a gay man, he can relate to being in a protected class. What the heck does this have to do with caring for our dogs???? I feel bad for the vet techs because if they desire to be veterinarians in the future, they're getting horrid experience and education. Final words: GO ELSEWHERE, DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!!!

I've reached capacity in dealing with this Banfield location, and effective last Friday, I've cancelled my OWP. The fact that I'm willing to lose $300 to cancel my OWP should tell you exactly how terrible this place is. Two words: prejudice and stereotyping. Aside from two vet techs, (Rashida, Alexis), and Dr. Jones, this location needs a complete medical overhaul + employee RE-training. In 03/24, started taking my pittie + husky mix to this location because they are 5 min from my home. FIRST VISIT, pup vomits in the lobby after getting his standard vaccinations (not completely uncommon). However, as a new dog mom, it would have made all the difference had Dr. Westall acknowledged my puppy vomiting INSTEAD OF STEPPING OVER him and I, as I cleaned up, to go about her way. Fast forward 18 months, my pup has since been "tagged" as a "bite risk" despite never having attempted to do so; at Banfield or elsewhere. 03/25, Stephanie cuts several of his quicks, causing him to bleed and become averse to nail trims. 05/25, while administering an allergy shot, Dr. Dowersett grabbed his hand, as if to imply that my pup bit him. Pup did not. Alexis and Stephanie witnessed this. Was my pup anxious prior to receiving his shot? Of course! Why?? Because he is uncomfortable with Stephanie, who lacks adequate experience w/ large breeds. She previously shared that she's "still learning" by “helping out from time to time”. When I saw who was on staff the day we arrived for pup’s shot, I told the receptionist that Alexis should assist us b/c he does very well with her (our 04/25 visit, Dr. Dowersett himself noted how “easy” my pup was to exam and how Alexis was able to do the exam almost entirely herself). The receptionist ignores my request and pup is w/ Stephanie first. After she struggled, Alexis joined (I was not in the room yet) her and the doc. My pup became afraid and backed into the corner of the exam room. Three humans surrounding an almost 2-year old pup is ASININE. Wouldn’t professional training/experience include understanding dogs’ body demeanor and managing accordingly? I join the 3 staff and Dr. D says, "your dog is riled up." After a few minutes, Alexis and I manage to calm him down so Dr. D can administer the shot. Right after he does, he makes a motion with his hand as though he was bitten. I immediately called attention to this behavior and told him it was problematic. He ignored me and left. I could share at least 3 other negative experiences, but I'll close with my most recent one from last Friday. I called to request apoquel and simparica. Front desk says that simparica can be picked up immediately but apoquel requires a doctor's “review” (for context, our last wellness visit was just in May) and wouldn't be ready until "sometime next week." I explained my pup was actively itchy, and that his records indicate his past allergy history so it’s weird that further review is necessary. She clarifies to say, "well, no doctors are working until next week so that's why it’d be delayed." The lack of transparency is appalling at best. This loc purports to be inclusive and all that jazz, but actively stereotypes and gaslights those that are in their care and keeping. I get it - pit bulls have been stereotyped for decades AND if the folks on this staff were true to their mission in caring for animals, they'd know: 1) how better to work with my pup and 2) that these stereotypes and prejudices cause more harm than good. A toy poodle can be just as dangerous/aggressive as a large breed dog like mine. Not that it matters, but my pup has graduated from several obedience and training programs throughout the County so while he is still very young, and because I am a new dog mom WELL AWARE of the stereotypes that exist, I purposely make effort to have a well-trained dog. Overall, I am ending our relationship with Banfield SPECIFICALLY because of this location – trash bedside manner, lackluster customer service, overall disappointment. I must advocate for my pup - even if no one else will.
