FRAUD ALERT. If you see it say anywhere, that the first visit is free…… it is a Lie. The first visit is how they sign you up for a $900+ plan, $170-200 on the spot with reoccurring payments you “can’t cancel” without being charged “for the services used”. But $500 is charged up in things you never asked for in the very first “free” visit. Nice people, but not so great/honest marketing or business practices. Update 4 weeks later: I reached out via email, as requested here. The response was: so sorry, call the store. I spoke with Banfield billing as well as the store manger. And she very rudely informed me, for the first time, when their vet insisted I select a “plan” to lower the up front cost of my 6lb dog’s necessary vaccines………apparently my agreement to a plan meant they would also add a bunch of unnecessary things to the bill too. This experience has been absolutely awful, the ultimate bait and switch. Now my dog still has vaccines he needs weeks later, that I have to pay for out of pocket somewhere else because even for all I’ve already paid those still aren’t covered AND I still have to pay this wicked corporate company an additional $300 just to cancel the plan. (If I don’t, the total would be nearly $1000 over the next year). And despite making it clear that they charged me for things I did not ask for, they refuse to alter the $500 charged up in one visit. Zero customer service, just, pushing me to keep the plan. To be clear, the care my dog actually needed could have been just $150-200 at a local vaccine clinic. Not $500+. Christmas, while healing from major surgery, might be light for my family this year thanks to this FRAUDULENT company! I am sharing so hopefully others can learn about their unacceptable practices, before it’s too late.

DO NOT GO TO BANFIELD!!!! Run the other way. I took my 5 month old kitten to Banfield and saw the vet who first told me my cat didn’t have a fever but because he had a swollen belly and must have worms, so he recommended the expense feces test (which we did) and to get deworming medicine (which I did) even though my cat had already been dewormed and hadn’t been around any other cats. He also recommended blood work (for another $270), which we did. His blood reveals healthy organ functions but protein levels were off (which the vet said was probably because he was dehydrated which I told him wasn’t the case because he was peeing a lot). But when they took his blood they retook his temperature and it was 104/105. So we have a five month old purebred kitty with a swollen belly, fever, lethargic and won’t eat. He then prescribed 4 prescriptions over several days and nothing was working. My kitty’s belly continue to swell, his skin turned yellow, and the whole time we syringe fed him food as he wouldn’t it. We went back and saw the vet again and he told me the cat would die because of liver failure due to the fact that we weren’t feeding him enough and we could let him pass in his sleep or put him down. After a few days of tears we made the heart wrenching decision to put our kitten out of his misery and at that appointment (a wonderful vet in VA - Summit Veterinary that I HIGHLY recommend - it is worth the drive), the vet said I knew before I met you based on the notes from your call, your cat has a classic case of FIP - the number one kitten disease! She said he was very close to death and if this had been diagnosed when we went to Banfield, he would never have had to get this sick, but we got in on meds and now a month later, he is doing great. I spent about $800 at Banfield and they did nothing other malpractice and will not do the right thing and even call me back to try and return my money and more importantly assure me that they will send they vet immediately to pet training as he clearly doesn’t know anything about cats. I recommend avoiding Banfield like the plague!

My teacup Yorkie Serena had to spend three weeks at PetHotel. while I was abroad. She was treated like a Queen as indicated by fact that she was eager to return for a couple of days a few weeks later! Carole Wilson Chevy Chase, MD
