  Terrible grooming experience resulting in $400 vet visit but manager handled the situation well. My goldendoodle was groomed yesterday and, after picking him up, my partner noticed that his ear was bleeding fairly heavily. The groomer did not mention this when she picked him up but he ears are completely floppy and were bleeding heavy so there is no way that they were unaware when they cut him. My dog’s ear wouldn’t stop bleeding so last night we had to take him to an emergency vet to have the cut glued shut and his head wrapped. They also prescribed him an antibiotic. Altogether, the visit cost $400. After calling attention to the injury, the groomer was defensive and attempted to blame us by saying he was matted. We brush our dog regularly and wash him with conditioner to prevent matting, plus we always check for mats before a grooming appointment. Even if he had been matter, cutting his ear, not mentioning it, and then trying to blame us is unacceptable. Beyond the injury, the grooming itself was done terribly and even the vet remarked on how poorly it was done. There is no chance that we will be back. I do want to thank the Petco manager, Erin, for handling the situation very well. In addition to reimbursing for the grooming, she gave us a wrap and gel to clean the ear, and she offered - and followed through on - paying for the vet visit. We did not need to argue at all and Erin made that process very smooth.

  I pretty much use Petco exclusively for my pet needs like food and treats and supplies. I typically will do a pick up order and very rarely do curbside pick up. The curbside pick up process is horrible at baseline because there’s nowhere to park and often times no one comes out for an extended period of time to deliver your items. with my most recent purchase, I bought an 80 pound bag of dog food and treats for my dog. when I arrived, I parked out front of the store with my hazards on. I followed the prompts on the app as indicated letting them know I was on my way when I was there and also sent a reminder about 10 minutes into waiting through the app. after about 20 minutes, I had called twice and wasn’t able to get a hold of anybody. at this time, I am nine months pregnant and cannot lift an 80 pound bag of dog food safely and so I really didn’t wanna have to go in the store and pick up this dog food and put it in my car. I noticed that petco employees would intermittently look out of the windows and see my car parked there but did not proceed to bring my items. After about 25 minutes I was unable to wait any longer, so I parked my car walked in and let them know I had been waiting for an order. When I got into the store there were two employees seemingly not helping any other customers. I told them my name and the person I was speaking to proceeded to tell me that there was a cart right there. They watched me as I lifted an 80 pound bag of dog food, put it in my own cart and then asked if I wanted help to push the cart to my car which I declined. they then proceeded to head outside of the store to collect carts in the parking lot. When I got to my car, they watched me put the bag of dog food in my car again, and said that I could leave my cart a little bit outside of my car and they would take it back into the store. I truly don’t understand the purpose of the curbside pickup at this location as I have similar experiences almost everytime I’ve scheduled a pickup. To watch a 9 month pregnant person lift a bag of dog food twice is beyond me. I hope this feedback is shared with its employees.
