I arrived with my dog who was in a really bad state around 7am earlier this week and despite saying they are a 24/7 animal hospital, they informed me they had just done a shift change and nobody was there who could see him. I had checked the wait list on the drive there to ensure we could get the quick care he needed and it stated nobody was on the wait list, so we rushed there. I’m not sure a scenario where there would be no physician present at a 24/7 ER. Thankfully they directed us to VEG Pikesville where he was ultimately hospitalized for two days and received incredible around the clock care with doctors always present. The woman at the front desk sympathetic and I’m grateful she suggested VEG.

I’ve been bringing my dog to this hospital since he was a puppy—he’s 11 now. For years, we loved this practice for its convenience, 24-hour care, and excellent medical treatment. When my dog was diagnosed with cancer, Dr. Bloom performed a lifesaving surgery, and her care has always been exceptional. She deserves five stars on her own. Unfortunately, our last three visits over the past year and a half have been deeply upsetting and unacceptable. During an emergency visit after my dog was attacked by an off-leash dog—leaving him injured, including a wound near his eye—a vet tech treated him as if he were vicious. She demanded a muzzle, refused to touch him, and showed open hostility. My dog was in pain and understandably reactive, but the lack of compassion was shocking and traumatic. The doctor who eventually came in was kind, but the damage was done. At our next visit for routine shots, the same pattern repeated. Before even approaching my dog, the tech insisted on a muzzle and treated him as dangerous, despite him having no history of aggression toward people and years of uneventful visits. The situation escalated so badly that my dog had to be sedated—something we had never needed before—adding unnecessary stress and cost. Yesterday’s visit was the final straw. After being incorrectly told we needed to pay a “new client” fee despite ten years with this practice, I had to argue just to get anxiety medication prescribed proactively for his visit. Even after properly medicating my dog and waiting in the car to avoid overstimulation, we were met with the same fear-based, hostile treatment. The tech refused to come near us, demanded a muzzle without assessment, avoided answering questions, and conducted the visit from a distance. No proper wellness exam was performed. A doctor only spoke with us after I insisted—and even then, did not fully examine my dog (they never even touched him). To make matters worse, my dog’s medical records have basic inaccuracies, including an incorrect birthdate and missing microchip information. I am heartbroken by the drastic shift in this practice. What was once a compassionate, animal-centered hospital now feels cold, dismissive, and driven by fear, particularly toward certain breeds. After years of loyalty and tens of thousands of dollars spent here, the lack of care, professionalism, and basic kindness is staggering. This was our last visit. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone.

I had an emergency visit for my pet. I was able to get in within the hour and they saw us almost immediately. The staff was patient and knowledgeable. For an "emergency" vet, they are very reasonably priced. I think my regular vet has a more expensive office visit. My pet did not have a life threatening issue and I think the issue will be dealt with through the prescriptions they sent us home with. I was stressed and the staff explained everything and answered my questions thoroughly. I hope I never need to see them again, but if I do need an emergency vet, I'll go to them first.

We are so thankful for Dr. Herko and the wonderful staff at Falls Road. We have parrots, and they have been so helpful and kind with our feathered babies. When our Senegal parrot Max was self- mutilating from anxiety issues, he was admitted to the hospital. They were so accommodating when we came to visit him every day, and they still love to see him when we bring him in for checkups. We are thankful for every day with Max, and Falls Road has been critical for bringing him this far and improving his quality of life. Thank you!!

I brought in a stray kitten I’ve been caring for, and I cannot express how grateful I am for the compassion and care we received at Falls Road Animal Hospital. They were offering a $25 wellness visit, which was incredibly helpful for someone trying to do the right thing on a limited budget. From the moment I walked in, both the nurse and the doctor made me feel completely supported. They were patient, informative, and treated Fuzzy (the kitten) like he mattered. They didn’t judge me for not knowing everything or being overwhelmed—they just genuinely wanted to help. They were able to get Fuzzy up to date on his shots, check for feline herpes, and administer deworming meds. But more than that, they showed a level of kindness that made a stressful situation feel manageable. Their empathy and professionalism truly stood out. I’m thankful to have found a place like this and would absolutely recommend Falls Road to anyone needing honest, compassionate care for their pets—especially if you’re in a tough spot and just trying to help an animal in need. 💛 Ps. Fuzzy is looking for an amazing home for Christmas🎄❤️🤞🏽
