We stayed with Banfield for 11+ years for my dog's care, but it has consistently gone downhill starting around the year that they moved locations (out of Petco). Now, theyre chronically understaffed and I'm treated as a HUGE inconvenience because I prefer in-room appointments and having face to face conversations with a vet. They never have same-day appointments available for sick visits, and if they do, its a drop-off situation. In fact, they default to drop-off as the only appointment type available, for anything. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not comfortable knowing my elderly arthritic dog is sitting in a kennel for up to 7 hours so that the vet can "see them in between scheduled surgeries." How does that instill confidence that the exam will be of quality and the proper time will be taken? Oh, it provides the opportunity to get lab results and run more tests if necessary? Not good enough for me, nice try! On top of that, my only conversations with vets have been over the phone FOR YEARS. This is a disservice to both pet and owner, to give a full run-down of the exam over the phone. There has been information I missed, was never told, or simply didnt understand because some of the vets have accents. There have been things that vets failed to check or address, bc its a game of telephone (no pun intended) with a front-desk or RN(idk the term) communicating my concerns through typed notes to the vet... I'm also a toddler mom, do you reeally think I can focus solely on the conversation? (thats probably the point lol) I had NO IDEA my dog had fractures in her pelvis until I just printed up her medical records (for our new local vet, bye banfield!), but thats not surprising because they also never informed that my dog stopped breathing during her FIRST dental cleaning ten years ago, and I only found out when the tech said "since your dog had a bad reaction to the anesthesia last time, we'll try a different one" at her next dental cleaning and I was like "um, wait, what?" ...it was brushed under the rug anyways. no big deal, right? Most of the employees have been very kind, many enthusiastically showed me they adored my dog. I dont fault them. It's the way this office is run, and the parameters they're trapped in (understaffing, sometimes having NO vet on site etc) because of corporate greed and late stage capitalism. My dog belongs elsewhere, and I'm willing to pay more, if it means vet visits are no longer an impersonal and uncomfortable experience and my highly anxious elderly dog learns she is safe and has me by her side. I'll update this when I inevitably struggle to cancel the monthly payments ($100/month for THIS quality of service? lmao no thanks) The app is trash and I've complained many times about it, and printing out medical records is a slog.

I would not recommend this veterinary practice based on my recent experience. My dog began experiencing stress-induced seizures and required daily seizure medication. When seeking care, I was informed that if she were to have a seizure while in the office, the practice would not be able to complete her appointment, including basic examination, lab work, or vaccinations. However, I was also told that seizure medication could not be prescribed without first completing lab work. This placed me in an impossible situation, as her condition makes in-office seizures likely, yet the practice refused to proceed with the very steps required to provide treatment. As a result, my dog was denied necessary medical care during a critical time. Additionally, when I canceled her care plan due to the refusal to complete her examination, the practice documented the reason for cancellation as “dying/end of life,” despite never examining her or determining such a condition. I found this inaccurate and unprofessional. Overall, I was very disappointed with how this situation was handled and felt that my dog’s medical needs were not appropriately supported.

Scheduled an appointment for my dog, it was rescheduled. They said no provider, rescheduled that appointment, rescheduled again, provider had an accident. Rescheduled a second time for a Wednesday at 4:45. Drove half an hour, one way, arrived 20 minutes before scheduled appointment, to find office locked and closed. No sign to indicate why closed early, no phone call to explain. I left a voicemail and call back number. I don't recommend this facility for pet care. Unreliable, and inconsiderate.

I pay for a plan that’s supposed to cover routine visits, exams, and unexpected illness etc, but my experience at the Plymouth location has been extremely disappointing. This plan is supposed to help pet owners avoid high costs, but every visit I still ended up paying a large bill, often only finding out at pick up. I was never contacted beforehand about out of pocket expenses. I’ve had three occasions where my pet was sick, and they couldn’t see him for two weeks, directing me to urgent care. While I understand schedules can be busy, what’s the point of paying for a plan if you still have to go elsewhere and pay out of pocket? The staff were consistently rude, and I never felt welcomed. On top of that, there are no in room appointments, which is extremely inconvenient for someone who works an hour away and can’t drop off their pet. By contrast, the Braintree location was wonderful. The staff were kind, accommodating, and able to schedule an in room appointment for my pet the next day they went above and beyond. Do yourself a favor and avoid the Plymouth location.
