Hindsight is 2020. My cat got spayed here & left with a huge incision, it got infected, took forever to heal. It was my first cat so I didn’t know anything about it & thought I did something wrong . Now that I’ve gotten 5 more cats spayed from the cat mobile, I know I messed up bringing my cat here. Their incisions were small & healed up so much quicker. Idk if they hire incompetent veterinarians or what but I highly recommend not bringing your cat here.

Delayed Diagnosis and Continued Charges After Our Dog Passed We had to euthanize our beloved dog due to what we believe was a misdiagnosis, and throughout this entire heartbreaking process, the only thing this clinic seemed concerned about was getting paid. Joy, our Shih Tzu–Bichon mix, had been a patient at this clinic for 4 years and 9 months with no major health issues. About a month and a half ago, he was diagnosed with a large bladder stone that was blocking his urethra. We were referred to Angell Animal Medical Center in Waltham for surgery. He was hospitalized and scheduled for surgery the next morning, but it was canceled because a pre-surgical X-ray did not show the stone. We were told it had likely passed when he urinated. We brought him home and, in coordination with Banfield, received a prescription diet and instructions to follow up in about two months. On Friday night, February 6, Joy showed difficulty passing stool but otherwise behaved normally (that was his personality—he rarely showed distress). By Saturday night he became restless, developed diarrhea and vomiting, and had difficulty urinating. We knew something was wrong and went back to Angell, where we were not seen until 7:30 a.m. We decided to leave and take him to Banfield because he was clearly uncomfortable. To their credit, Banfield received us immediately. After examination, Joy was diagnosed with a bacterial intestinal infection that was said to be causing the diarrhea and possibly the urinary difficulty. I specifically asked whether this could be related to the previously diagnosed bladder stone and was reassured it was not. We were sent home with medications and told to return within 48 hours if there was no improvement. The next day, when I called to report that Joy still had not urinated and was extremely uncomfortable, we were referred to the emergency hospital. At VEG, Joy was diagnosed with a very large stone completely obstructing his urethra—most likely the same stone that had supposedly “passed.” By that point, his bladder had ruptured, causing severe infection in his abdomen. We were given two options: attempt a very complex surgery with several days of hospitalization and uncertain recovery, or euthanasia. Joy was a joyful, loving dog who brought happiness to everyone around him. After the suffering he endured in his final days—much of which he did not outwardly show—we made the devastating decision to let him go rather than subject him to a painful surgery with low chances of recovery. Today, when we called to cancel his wellness plan, we were told—without any compassion—that we are still financially obligated to continue monthly payments through September under the annual contract, despite the fact that Joy has passed away. Not only did we lose our dog following what we believe was an incorrect diagnosis that delayed urgent care, we also paid for treatments and medications that did not address the real problem. Now we are being required to continue paying for services for a dog who is no longer alive. This experience has left us heartbroken and deeply disappointed. At no point did we feel genuine compassion or accountability—only financial interest. UPDATE: After posting this review, Banfield’s Client Advocate Team contacted us directly and handled our concerns with compassion and professionalism. We appreciate their efforts to address the situation during an incredibly painful time for our family. I would also like to thank the staff for the care Joy received during the 4.5 years he was a patient here. He was deeply loved, and many team members showed him kindness over the years.

Horrible experience with the staff. They insisted on doing a test and billing me for something that I have not been required to do or billed for in the past. They told me they couldn’t find it in the records. I pulled up the record where I got medication without a test and they said it’s a different location and their policy is different. This doesn’t excuse lying to a longtime customer who has spent thousands and thousands of dollars at this business with two dogs for over 5 years. Watch your billing carefully. They are constantly trying to up charge and add things on.
