- SHSusan HanlyDec 24, 20251.0We have been going to Petco for grooming for years-when we lived in Westford, MA. We had wonderful service at all times-We relocated to Woburn MA last year. I recently made an appt at the Petco in Medford b/c there were no grooming appointments available in Woburn. When we got there, I told the woman at the desk that our dog is on Gabapentin for arthritis issues and she said that she has to be off it for 24 hours before grooming per Petco corporate policy. I did not know this and was frustrated. She called the manager over who said that our dog has to be off of it for 48 hours. I told her we would get the dog groomed elsewhere. We went into the Woburn Petco to try to make an appt, and planned to take our dog off of the Gabapentin. We were unable to make the appointment because the Petco Grooming Manager in Medford had us flagged in the system! Said we needed a note from our vet before she could be groomed at Petco-so basically she blacklisted us which is truly disgraceful. I spoke to my Vet who did write a letter. She was as flabbergast as us for this insult. Needless to say, we will not have our dog groomed ever again at a Petco. In fact, we had our dog groomed yesterday at a local groomer in Medford! No problems at all!
