I do NOT recommend Banfield Pet Hospital in Medfield at all, especially their Active Care Plus wellness plan. We’ve been paying close to $100 per month for this plan, and in the end, almost every visit still requires significant out-of-pocket payments. The plan barely covers any diagnostic tests or treatments. Honestly, it feels misleading—paying a monthly fee for what amounts to very limited benefits, mostly just basic annual vaccines. Recently, I had to take my dog in twice within less than two weeks for different issues. On the first visit, I ended up paying $500 out of pocket. On the second visit, I still had to pay $113—again, because the plan covers almost nothing. What was even more concerning was the quality of care. During the first visit, Dr. Daniel Kusi examined my dog and said everything was fine. However, my dog was clearly beginning to develop an ear infection (otitis), which is quite noticeable, and it was completely missed. The only positive experience I’ve had at this location is with Dr. Peter Kirk, who has always been attentive and genuinely cares about my dog. That said, I will not be returning to this Banfield location, and I will definitely be canceling the Active Care Plus plan. Overall, this feels like a corporate strategy to charge high monthly fees while providing minimal actual coverage.

Just a soulless corporate money grab. Go to a private vet instead. Pets and pet care should never be part of some national or international conglomerate.

On 11/18 I brought my dog in for an infected mass on his toe. I was told the mass “didn’t look good,” a sample was sent out to pathology, and I was told I’d hear back by the end of the week. I was also sent home with no medication for the active infection. When the end of the week came, I called for an update and went straight to a voicemail saying the office was closed. This continued for an entire week—no returned calls, no communication, nothing. I eventually found the pathology report myself through the Banfield app (thankfully it wasn’t cancer), but at this point the infection had worsened significantly because he still had no treatment. I ultimately had to bring my dog to Tufts Emergency, where the infection was so bad they warned that if medication didn’t work, his toe might need to be amputated. Tufts immediately started him on proper antibiotics, and we’ve since established care with a new vet. The lack of follow-up, the failure to provide any treatment, and the complete absence of communication from Banfield could have had devastating consequences. I am incredibly disappointed and will not be returning after being there for 12 years.

The front deck stuff very helpful, but not the doctors...... Doctor Peter Kirk send my small dog back home after late evening emergency visit and said he is in good health even he had heavy breathing and was very weak. Also confirmed that he can survive the surgery which was scheduled for January And 6-8 hours later we're went in Tufts Emergency in Walpole and they said he has pulmonary edema and he already had BLUE tank. NEVER RECOMEND......
