If you love your pet and want them to receive safe, attentive care, please don’t bring them to Chelmsford Banfield. My family has been loyal to this location for nearly 15 years. Sadly, the quality of care and professionalism have declined drastically. Last year, I was encouraged to euthanize my 14 year old Pomeranian, something I deeply regret not getting a second opinion on. Still, I continued bringing my pets here, believing it was an isolated experience. Fast forward to this summer: my 1 year old Pomeranian had his annual comprehensive exam, and we were told everything was up to date. No mention of any upcoming vaccines. A few weeks later, his daycare informed me his rabies shot was expiring, something Banfield never noted. While picking up our cat (after an 8 AM drop-off and nearly 9 hours with no update , despite their policy that you can’t call to check in), I tried to book an appointment for the vaccine. The front desk refused to schedule it and told me to do it online, even though their system has had ongoing IT issues for over a year. I made the appointment online, but when I arrived, Sarah at the front desk claimed there was no record and condescendingly suggested I must have booked at a different Banfield. She offered no help, no apology, and no solution - just an “oh well” attitude. She promised the manager would call the next morning. That call never came. Out of frustration, I contacted the local Humane Society, who saw my dog immediately. They discovered an infected cracked puppy tooth which is something that should have been removed during his neuter surgery and absolutely should have been caught at his recent exam. He now needs urgent surgery. That same day, another local vet confirmed he was overdue for two additional vaccines and helped get everything up to date. Meanwhile, Banfield still hasn’t sent over my pets’ medical records (we have multiple pets on their wellness plan), nor have they responded to voicemails or emails, issues we’ve raised repeatedly. At this point, I no longer trust them with any of my animals. The care has become negligent, communication is non-existent, and the compassion they once had is gone. Reading other reviews, it’s clear this isn’t an isolated experience. Please, for the sake of your pets, go somewhere else.

The doctors at that location are excellent. However, not everyone at the front desk is efficient when it comes to answering the phone and finding options that fit your schedule. I hope they can improve in that area because, overall, the location is great. The people at the cashier are friendly, and the grooming team is awesome as well.

Everyone at the office is so kind and thoughtful. Plus really great about giving reminders and keep us up to date.

I gave 1 star by default, as 0 or negative stars is not an option. My husband and I have been bringing our cat to a Banfifeld facility for a couple of years back in Ohio. We moved out here to MA and first thing we did was locate a Banfield and schedule an appointment for our cats. First issue, the online appointment was 'double booked' and rescheduled 2 or 3 times. We finally got there and the front desk wouldn't check us in because we were early. 5 minutes early, but, whatever. We asked for both cats nails to be clipped. We were told, no problem. Then they got us in a room, where we discussed our big cat being a fat spoiled housecat after we rescues him from outside and asked about getting his nails clipped and his ear checked, because it smells funky and he's digging at it, and the little cat being neutered, because he bites and scratches. We asked again that his nails be clipped, and again we're told no problem. The lady said she would do it before he got his rabies shot. Y'all I heard my kitten cry from the back, and then someone else brought him back saying, he's a little worked up. We'll you are all new people and he got his nails clipped and he got a shot. No, actually, he bit the vet tech and don't worry, she's ok, she's washing it out, but they wouldn't clip his nails. My option: make another appointment with the stellar appointment booking system that worked so well previously to bring him back, only next time, medicate him. I looked her in the face and said, did you seriously tell me to medicate my kitten so it's easier for you to do your job? She responded, yes. So my kitten, with new people in a new place got shots before nails clipped and he bit the tech, so they wouldn't clip his nails, and im supposed to medicate him. I asked isnt it part of the job, being bitten or scratched? She said yes. I took the kitten and left. The 2nd cat, still with my husband, got his shots. Hubs asked if his nails got clipped and the vet said, no cuz he's an outside cat. My husband said no he isn't, we discussed this, you people don't listen. His ears werent checked and again he said you people dont listen. Apparently she told him he was rude and not to come back. I have a cat who has something wrong with his ear and the vet didn't bother to even look, neither of them got their nails clipped, because listening skills need some serious work, and overall communication is a joke. I won't bring my cats back to this Banfield. They deserve so much better than the poor, disgraceful service that they got! Even tho an entire convo was had about the big cat being a rescue and now being an indoor cat, was unheard. An entire convo about a long ago fight with a racoon causing issues with his ear, went unchecked. An entire convo about the little cat being a feisty biter that scratches, went unheard, and instead, the vet said my husband was rude and not to come back. Seriously? These things were discussed before hand, and yet they act shocked when it happened! Don't waste your time here. They don't listen, don't communicate, don't seem to care, but if you don't like it, they just dismiss you and tell you not to come back. What a disrespect to the animals you serve!
