Before my visit, I explained that another groomer, Jonathan from the Dedham location, had falsely claimed that my dog was matted even though my vet confirmed in writing (after a $150 visit) that there was no matting at all. Lana reassured me over the phone that she would take good care of my dog and handle his grooming properly, so I drove 1 hour and 30 minutes to the Avon location based on that promise. However, once there, she spent about ten minutes feeling around my dog, trying to find something wrong, and ultimately said, “I agree with Jonathan your dog is matted,” even after I showed her the signed vet paperwork proving otherwise. It’s very disappointing that another groomer would ignore clear veterinary proof and rely on inaccurate assessments. It’s also concerning that both groomers seem uneducated in caring for curly-haired dogs, yet are representing Petco as professionals. If you have a curly-haired dog or expect trained, honest service, I do not recommend the Avon Petco grooming salon. Petco needs to provide proper education and accountability for their groomers customers should not have to waste time, money, and long drives just to be turned away for inaccurate reasons.
