Today was my first and last time at this location, I normally go to the one in Metairie. I went there just for a puppy bed. Walked in it smelled horrible, I mean the whole store smelled. there were no prices by the beds and couldn’t get any help. The 2 guys that were working seemed annoyed and the 1 checkout line was long so I just left.

Kai, a cashier was so rude. Isn’t there customer service training? He surely needs it. I was waiting at the checkout counter for a bit and when he came up, didn’t even say “hello.” He just scanned the items and told me the price. I said “thank you” and he never responded. It was such a cold interaction. I left feeling that was awkward and unprofessional.

I had an appointment scheduled for my older husky/golden mix only to get a phone call the day before saying that they cannot groom her because she is an older dog and she has too many health issues. She is in good shape for being nine going on ten, has hip dysplasia (which our vet does not seemed too concerned about and has never mentioned her needing medicine or surgery for) and it was also mentioned by our vet that she MAY have arthritis in one paw. But nothing concerning. That is it... She goes on walks, plays with our other dogs, gets around just fine. She also use to regularly go to the groomers so she is not unexperienced there. I was told I would have to bring her to my vet for a grooming instead because they could potentially make her health problems worse and she has a lot going on health wise and that because they don't know her they don't know how she would react to the grooming. They did not bother to ask me questions about her or offer to meet her. Just straight out refused to groom her. When I asked how it could make it worse just so I don't make things worse for her when I groom her at home the response was "I'm sorry?" so I repeated the question and I got "well ya know... putting her on and off the table, taking her in and out of the kennel could aggravate her symptoms and make it worse." When I said thank you and I appreciate the phone call the staff member went silent and then said "okay". The staff member was not friendly and not apologetic about having to cancel this groom and made me feel like I was the crazy one for ever considering scheduling my older dog for a groom. I normally go to Petco for my dogs supplies when I can't get it through chewy in time. Going forward I will never be shopping here or attempting to get any of my dogs groomed here. Normally in the store as well I tend to have to wait at the front for a few minutes to check out before anyone realizes I have been standing there because the counter isn't covered most of the time. Overall, this place is pretty frustrating. I think they have one staff member I have met who is excellent at his job and it sucks when I have to deal with someone else.
