- TWTony WoodsDec 17, 20251.0Never took our Maltese for healthcare anywhere but Dixie Animal Hospital, from day 1, and for the next 12 years of his life. Early on, we were getting his grooming done there onsite as well. They went through a few groomers, and after the next two appointments my dog came home limping. I went back in and demanded a doctor look at him, which they did. But nothing was ever done about it, so I switched to Feeder’s Supply in Valley Station where I could watch the entire process through a window and, most importantly, he could see me and stayed calm. As he aged. The vets at Dixie Animal diagnosed him with Cushing Syndrome, and he would be on several medications for life. We found a local pharmacy who would fill the monthly medications, but I about lost my mind when I saw a vet charge for actually “writing” each Rx, each month. The last time I took him there for his 6 month Cushing Syndrome checkup and lab work testing, he left the house with my mom’s husband a happy and bouncing little fella. About 1.5 hrs later, he returned home lethargic and could barely stand to walk. He couldn’t keep water down and wanted no part of his food or favorite treats (which he always flips over). I called the next morning as they opened and said I was bringing him in because of these symptoms that came about while in THEIR care. I couldn’t sleep and watched him all night long, then took him in at 8:30am. He was getting to be “critical” by this point, yet they STILL made me wait for over an hour… until I started walking the back halls asking for help. Long story short, SOMEBODY made a huge mistake that cost my baby his life! 3 days later after a stay a Jefferson Trauma Hospital, then to Metro Surgical Specialists, not to mention many thousands of dollars later, he passed away. It was well before his time. And the folks at Dixie Animal Hospital dropped the ball on this one…. Partially out of “greed” and partially from someone’s incompetence. Our lives here at home have lost all quality of happiness and continue to be full of constant grief. SHAME ON DIXIE ANIMAL HOSPITAL 😥 *I would advise doing some research, especially smaller veterinary clinics where care is more personal and skill is abundant.

I believe my new puppy is in good hands and with myself and Dixie staff in place is well on his path for success, great health, delicious food, mountains of treats, abundance of love, belly rubs, kisses and licks and so much more to come…4 paws down ❤️🐾❤️🐾 Dr Bachman is amazing!!! She super loves Mr Dominoe amongst the entire staff and treats me with such kindness and warmth. The pricing which caught me by surprise was overwhelmingly affordable. Cowabunga!!!
