We have been breeding labs since 1995. We know the ins and outs of breeding and how to keep puppies healthy from birth. Our family wants to help your pointing lab succeed as a hunting dog, so we also offer training classes to better prepare them. For more information, contact us today!
I've waited quite a while to leave a review because I wanted it to be a reflection of the quality of my dog rather than a reaction. I picked up Ruger the end of April, 2024. I'd never trained a dog in my life outside of basic commands. I figured I'd spend the summer working with him and mostly trying to not screw him up. I had no intentions of hunting him during the 2024 season, but after speaking with a friend, and where Ruger was at, I was told I needed to get him on live birds. Waterfowl season was, meh, which I expected. I hadn't worked with him much on waterproof, and he'd never encountered a Canada goose, so the retrieving was weak. Upland season was a different story. It's clearly where he excelled, finding and retrieving several birds through the season. Fast forward to 2025, and he's a very solid hunting companion for an 18 month old. Still thrives at upland and will point and hold as long as the birds aren't running. Big time drive and will hunt the thickest brush and cat tails you can find without slowing. When other dogs are walking behind their owner to get a break, Ruger is still charging through the brush. Does he have some faults in hunting, yes, but those faults are 100% on his trainer and nothing to do with his intelligence, trainability or drive. In the house, he's a loving companion who will give kisses for days. He's a little stubborn listening to anyone but me, but again, I'm pretty okay with that. His disposition is great, and even without being neutered, he has no aggression towards other dogs. If a jack of all trades, excellent hunting companion is what you're looking for, I wouldn't hesitate in getting another lab from Lankas.
