However, if you have any type of emergency, there is little assistance except for, "I'm sorry but there are no time slots today to see a dog or cat." The only reason I go to Banfield is because of my groomer at Pet Smart and the age of my dog. If your dog is less than four years old and therefore does not have many issues, this is a great place to start. However, with my previous dog (16) there was little support except to bring her in for her exam. Banfield is a great place to start with a puppy but after your pet is six years or older, I'd start looking for someplace that is more personable.

Initially, we took advantage of the free visit and that was an opportunity to kind of test things out. I was so pleased with the amount of time that was spent with us, and the care That both the vet and the doctor took with both me and my cat. I felt strongly enough to subscribe to one of their wellness plans and I’m happy I did. Having it gives us peace of mind, knowing that we can take our cat as needed for a visit that is covered by the plan. The only negative that I have is it is difficult to reach hospital staff on the phone, but they’ve been very quick to respond to voicemails.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
