  I’ve been dealing with The Hydrant for about 4 to 5 years now, with their constant price increases every time I go. I usually go about 3 to 4 times a year due to the breed of my dog. It took a while to find the right stylist at The Hydrant, but I finally found one who is really good. I’ve been seeing her for about 2 years now. Today, I called The Hydrant to make an appointment. The lady who picked up must have been new because I hadn’t heard her voice before, I was put on hold for about 5 to 7 minutes. When she came back, she informed me that she could get me in, but I would no longer be able to see the stylist that I’ve been seeing for about a year. I asked her why, and she said something about company policy being fair to the other stylists. I told her I understand company policy, but I have tried several stylists there, and a lot of them do not know how to cut my dog’s hair correctly. They take the easy way out and just shave the dog. She put me on hold again and then said, “I’m sorry, but the stylist doesn’t want to see your dog because of behavioral issues,” which I find odd. My dog is not aggressive at all, and for the 2 years I’ve been seeing that stylist, she never mentioned anything about behavioral issues. After I questioned that, the receptionist came up with another excuse about me being late to some of my appointments. There would be sometimes I would be about 3 to 4 minutes late, and that’s because I’m coming from Valparaiso, which I have been transparent about since I started going to The Hydrant. That has never been a problem or even a discussion when I would talked to the stylist. At this point, I am fed up. I’m done with the constant price hikes, and I’m done with the customer service here. If there was a problem, it should have been addressed at the time of the issue, which was never the case. There are so many fantastic groomers in the Highland/Hammond area. I would advise anyone else to avoid this place at all costs.

  I've been coming here for almost 5 years already. I visited on Friday, May 1st, for my dog’s grooming appointment and had an absolutely wonderful experience before I even stepped through the door. ​I was in the parking lot struggling to get my 2-year-old and 1-year-old settled into the stroller while also managing my dog. One of the employees, Sherry, saw me from the parking lot and immediately stepped in to help. She offered to take my dog inside for me so I wouldn't have to navigate the kids in and out of the stroller twice. ​It is already a challenge to run errands with two little ones and a pet, but Sherry’s kindness truly made my day so much easier. I was so touched by her gesture and the fact that she went out of her way to help a stressed mom. Thank you so much, Sherry! This shop clearly employs wonderful, observant people!

  It's hard to find somewhere that grooms cats. So I was very excited when I found Hydrant Pet Center. From the first phone call to the actual visit they made me fill comfortable about them handling my cats. They were very patient with them and did their best to provide the grooming services I was looking for. I would definitely bring them back.

  I had such an amazing experience at Hydrant Pet Center. This was my first time bringing my dog in for both grooming and boarding, and I was honestly blown away. From the moment we walked in, you could feel how much the team truly cares. Everyone was so kind, attentive, and full of love for the pets in their care. It gave me so much peace of mind leaving my pup there. The grooming turned out wonderful, and when I picked my dog up from boarding, I could tell they were well taken care of, comfortable, and happy. That means everything to me. I’m so grateful to have found a place I can trust. We will definitely be back!

  I have been coming to this groomer for years. Today I get to my appointment 30 minutes early only for them to tell me the groomer isn’t there and they have to reschedule me. No call or anything. I leave work at 7 am to get to my appointment early only to be told that the groomer isn’t even there. And she actually double booked. The other groomers just looked at me very nonchalantly and said… yeah she isn’t coming she has another pet at 10. It’s 8:30 am? Very dismissing and unprofessional. I’m so disappointed in their services. Which aren’t cheap.
