Very bad experience on January 13. This experience is how we were treated as a Wellness plan member. Banfield is a high volume output corporate veterinarian factory. The current doctors have no bedside manor will explain later
Our dog woke up sick, called Banfield at 8:05 AM. According to the website, they open at 8:00 AM. The phone system was forwarded to voicemail. Left a voicemail, no call back. Called again at 8:30 and 9:00 still forwarded to voicemail. Had to call Petsmart at 9:05 AM, who is not affiliated with Banfield. The Petsmart employee had to walk over to Banfield to tell them to stop forwarding phone calls. I called at 9:10 and finally someone answered. No apology.
When we checked in with the same customer service representative who had the phone forwarded to voice mail told us the veterinarian wanted to run a few tests and the maximum cost for the visit was about $700. My wife asked
will the doctor calls us before running any test, she replied “YES”. Our dog had come in for the same upset stomach issue 3 times prior in 2022, 2023 and 2024 each time for a little over $200. According to the Ashley - Vernon Hills location manager, the customer service person had noted that we were ok with the test.
When we checked out, the bill was over $1000. The same customer service rep processed the payment and told us the transaction did not go through. She processed another payment. After returning home we found out we were double billed. No call or apology from Banfield about the double billing.
I will add more details later on this unmemorable visit. The customer advocate team that responded to my review has no influence, all they can do is escalate. After calling the customer advocate team numerous times, I had to wait almost 3 weeks before getting a call from the veterinarian supervisor. No apology.

Horrible experience. Was taking my kittens here. They took my monthly payments and was told I could get regular care for my pets. One of my kittens was having g health issues and I was told multiple time by vet to wait and let her get worse before testing her. Lost a lot of money here and they did NOT care for the health of my cats. As someone who’s not fortunate enough to go to a high end vet it really sucks going to one that takes your money and lets your pets get worse

Banfield Pet Hospitals are great, but vary wildly by location. Unfortunately, this location has not met many basic level expectations you’d want from a vet. From my experience, this location houses very short-tempered receptionists and an incompetent vet staff. After several issues this year, I have terminated both my pets special care plans, which was not made lightly as both my pets had stellar experiences at the Vernon Hills location.

Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
