I’ve been to the downtown Banfield location and it’s 100% times better and more professional techs. It’s worth the drive! Twice I’ve had my dog come in for a comp examine and when I pick up the vet tech always seems to have the same sassy attitude. I know my dog and what medication he’s on. This individual is hostile and super unprofessional. I asked what the medication we were being sent home with was for and he didn’t offer any explanation just same sassiness as before. I will not be going back here!

This entire review will be about Jackie and Jackie only. I had two ridiculously bad experiences trying to go to the Evanston location. But I was also dogsitting a dog who is in this network, so I had no choice but to give them another shot. The Skokie location is easy enough to get to (and an excuse to browse around the mall), but I was beyond over Banfield. However, I made the appointment anyway after canceling the Evanston appointment. The customer service is night and day between the two: Skokie location answers the phone during working hours, responded to a voicemail, called me to confirm my upcoming appointment, and the person I spoke with (Jackie) was really friendly and professional. I told her she needs to train the team at Evanston. I didn't end up completing the visit once the dog owner and I agreed that we could wait for her pup to do a follow-up at her "regular" location (that's nowhere near me). And the dog is doing great, which is why this was no longer the emergency it originally was. So I cannot say what it would've been like had I stepped foot in the actual Skokie Banfield location. I'm just judging on first impressions and phone customer service, and I'm hoping the two mirror each other. If I ever had an issue with my dog's current vet or the hospital near me for my own dog, this would be my third choice.

I have made an appointment twice now and it’s been cancelled or requested to be moved to a drop-off appointment the day of the appointment. My dog has anxiety and I have to be there with her. Their inability to keep themselves on schedule is ridiculous.

First time going to this location. I wasn’t told there was a bell to ring upon arrival for when the store is closed. Nor is the bell obviously seen. You have to look for the bell (on left hand side of main door). So it was a little annoying that I had to wait for a worker to let me in (still didn’t inform me about the bell) and still get a condescending attitude from the front desk rep about it when I asked her about the bell. She replied “it’s in the front of the store” when I asked her where it’s at because I truly didn’t know where it was at. Pet Smart needs to pay them more. Perhaps .50 more the hour and they would be willing to share that the bell is located on the left hand side of the door when they call you prior to confirm appointment. Doctors and techs were great and very friendly. Disappointing first experience but treatment was good with my dog so that’s all that matters. On a side note, the front desk rep did help me with an insurance inquiry at the end of the appointment/pick up time. I just wished for bell information up front, especially if you’re not familiar with procedures and location of things.
