I enjoy going to petco. They have a nice variety of dog food and everything you need for an aquarium or a terrarium. The best part is signing up for the vital care premier rewards. I love earning points to help out with purchases and getting exclusive perks like percentages off items and new items for your favorite pets. They have reasonable prices and a Nice variety of pet fish.

There are deceased animals present in the store. it looks like some animals like isopods and cockroaches are packaged and shipped to the store in sealed containers. Once the food and water in the container is gone, the animal is just left to starve on the shelf. I cannot comprehend how this is considered normal and not an animal welfare violation.

I've brought my small dog to this location on several occasions to have my dog groomed and everything went well. I've also taken my dog to the Oaklawn Petco for grooming services serveral times without any issue. However, a few months ago I brought her back for maybe the third to the time to the Homewood location and there were some concerns. I arrived 20 minutes early to drop my dog off for the appointment, I was asked by the groomer Destiny to come back at the appointment time because she was busy handling something on the phone and couldn't check my dog in. After roaming the store for 20 minutes with my dog I finally was able to check my dog in and was informed by Destiny that there would be an additional $10 charge because she would have to spend extra time on my dogs haircut. I asked why wasn't this fee ever applied before at the Homewood location or any other Petco and she stated that all the groomers should be charging this fee and she can't explain why they don't and its a mandated fee from management. I asked why wasn't I informed of the fee when they called to confirm the appointment since my dog is receiving the same haircut she always gets. I asked to speak with a manager who graciously waived the fee and apologize for the inconvenience for both situations. I vowed to not bring my dog back to this location for service. I took her to the Petco in Oaklawn without incident, and the customer service was outstanding as usual and my dog looked great. However, because I live in Homewood and Homewood location is a mere five minutes away I decided to try the Homewood Petco again with my fingers crossed that things would run smoothly. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed again. Again I was assisted by the groomer Destiny and Instead of charging a $10 dollar additional fee for the haircut, she said she would have to charge me an additional $20 dollar fee. I told her I wasn't paying that and asked why is she arbitrarily applying fees when no one else is doing it. She repeated the same thing she did the time before, it's not her, but mangement. I asked to speak with a manger and someone by the name of Juan came and talked to me after she told him why she is charging the fee. He told me that he would waive the $20 dollar fee this time, but I would have to pay the $20 fee for any subsequent visits. I decided that I would just take my dog to Oaklawn as I no longer felt comfortable leaving my dog there. I won't be coming back at all ti this location, the customer service needs a bit of work and they shouldn't be trying to up charge customers on willy nilly and when it suits them. I was told by Juan that the groomers are paid on commission and that's why the can charge the additional fees. I think these fees should be applied across the board and not based on which groomer you just so happen to encounter that day. I will not be taking a chance and coming back to Homewood location again, I believe in receiving good service for the money I spend and I always leave a good tips. I will take my dog where my money is appreciated.
