I give two stars bc although the staff was kind, they were not thorough. I found a senior stray cat and decided to take him home a couple of months ago. I found a few fleas so I treated him with a Dawn soap bath and Frontline flea topical medicine. He was having diarrhea as well. So I booked an appointment to make sure he is all good esp since I found him. They offer a free first exam which is helpful. They tested for FIV, did a stool sample, exam, checked for fleas.. they said they would call me about the stool sample. I got a call but they didn’t leave a voicemail- which they said indicates nothing was found. After the visit and tests they said he was all good and would just need a few more preventative vaccines at the next visit bc they didn’t want to overload him with shots since he is a stray and we didn’t have his history. About a month later, he still has diarrhea and I see a white piece come off his behind and it’s moving. It’s a tapeworm segment. I called them, explained this to them and asked if they found anything when they tested the stool since they didn’t leave a voicemail stating so or to call them back. I asked if they could possibly prescribe me a liquid medicine for it. They said they didn’t find anything at the time- but since it had been about a month I would have to come back, they couldn’t just prescribe me a medicine per the vet which I thought was wrong. I just spent 200 bucks here and you said he was good but you can’t prescribe me a liquid? So I had to buy some over the counter pills for tapeworms and force feed him it because he didn’t want to swallow the pill pocket. Fast forward, no more segments found but he still has diarrhea and is sneezing and coughing. I take him to a different vet, they advise me they contacted Banfield and they did no labs just the things I mentioned above. And they found a ball in his neck. They believe it to be his thyroid. I had to order the bloodwork per their recommendation and am out an additional 400 bucks on top of the nearly 200 I spent at Banfield. I was under the impression labs were done- but I guess it was just the FIV test. That is something I wish they would’ve been more clear to me about. The lump in the neck- how was this not found? He is a older cat, so there is no way all this developed within the 2-3 months I’ve had him. The staff was very kind and I’m not knocking them on that. I just wish they were more through when they said he was all good. Vet care is expensive as is and having to cough up an extra 400 bucks (different vet) for a full blood panel bc they didn’t check him thoroughly the first time I took him in to Banfield is very upsetting. It just feels like they wanted me to have to come back and spend more. I don’t know, I feel bad but they need to be more clear on the whole thing instead of just saying he’s good and will just need a few more shots…

I have to shout out the staff at this location, specifically Casey. They have been so attentive and detail-oriented with my pet over the last few weeks. They demonstrate genuine empathy for our pets wellness and our peace of mind. We came in this Sunday with no appointment. My dog was in so much pain we just didn’t know what to do. Casey made time to between takes to consult with us, speak with the vet, and get some extra prescription pills for my dog’s pain. It made a world of difference to us. *Important note* Not all Banfield locations are created equal. The staff make all the difference. Casey, and all the other staff at this location, are special.
