  Called as requested, staff said they'll check and see if the refrigerator temperature is off, but if something is past date, or bad it's the fresh pet company responsibility to take care of it, not PETCOs. But food that is bad can be returned.

  We recently moved to Alton from St. Charles, and we used to love our Petco in St. Charles, so we decided to stop in here the other day since it’s the only local place that carries the type of catnip my cats like. We ended up picking up quite a few extra things because one of our cats has a birthday coming up. Unfortunately, our experience at checkout was really disappointing. When we got to the register, the cashier was having a conversation with a coworker. We assumed she would pause the conversation long enough to properly check us out, but that never happened. We tried to ask several questions, but we were completely ignored because she was too busy having an in-depth conversation with her coworker about what she planned to buy after her shift. I made multiple attempts to ask a question and was still ignored. Customer service should come before personal conversations, especially when someone is actively checking out. If the cashiers are more focused on talking to coworkers than helping customers, we’ll gladly take our business elsewhere.

  Everyone is so helpful and nice! Needed help with my dogs diet and this really sweet blonde lady (didn’t catch her name) was so helpful! Whole store full of good vibes and people! ❤️

  I’ve always enjoyed the variety of merchandise @ Alton, IL Petco location & it is a great place to shop. But I’ve noticed over the past months that there is ALWAYS A LOT of products OUT OF STOCK. As of my visit today 3-24-26 there are still a lot of items out of stock . I’m starting to get a bit annoyed by this!! So PETCO do you think you could put your company efforts back into this stores location.
