Dropped off 2 dogs at 10am for annual vaccines. They left our medicated, anxious dog in a kennel for 3.5 hours until sedation wore off, then cancelled the exam due to "stress"—a situation caused by their delay. Our other dog sat 4 hours for nothing, complicating a necessary incontinence med refill. Their process is disorganized and creates unnecessary anxiety for pets.

This is going to be a long post. I have been bringing my dog to this location for 7 years and have been on a wellness plan for 13 yrs.
I have had good experiences and bad with this location. Currently they are excessively understaffed and I feel this is affecting the ability of care for pets that come here. With constant promises of improvement I have yet to see. Since Covid the quality of care has been rough. From the random days closed, no follow up calls, and the inability to schedule any kind of appointment due to a full schedule. Sometimes they have a drop off available but that’s it. I’ve seen phone calls about changing my appointments which is caused an overlap of vaccine sometimes an extra cost out of my pocket due to their staffing. This brings me to my most current issue.
Thursdays my dog was significantly ill. I called them and was told there’s no appointment on Friday and with my dogs currently state I should take her to the hospital. I did. They gave me some meds and said to follow up her normal vet. So I called Friday morning. To ensure I could get on the schedule for Monday. The lady we just annoyed with me and said I could do a drop off only from 8-10. I explained in my dog’s current state I didn’t fill a drop off would be OK for her. I offered to sit in my car with her till they were ready. I was told that’s “not an option and that’s not how that works”. She then told me there’s was Tuesday availability (almost a full week after my dogs emergency care). I explained the emergency vet said to follow up in 2 to 3 days and that’s what I was trying to do. Was placed on hold so she could speak to a manager who said they could squeeze me in at 2:30. I agreed to the appointment. And she continued to tell me that there was absolutely no other time that I needed to make sure I was on time and that they were having to cut their lunch short to accommodate this. I said I understood and would be there. They called me back later in the day somebody canceled and they gave me that appointment once again I agreed to it. I just wanted my dog to be able to be seen so I could help her however I can. I arrived early at a fear of being late they wouldn’t see me and was told my appointment couldn’t be checked in until my exact appointment time. Stormy was the nurse that helped me, no matter the day I have gone in. She was always been kind, compassionate and helpful over the years. I had a new female vet that I have not interacted with before she handled my Pet, wonderfully with kindness, compassion, and making sure she addressed all my concerns. I’m grateful to these two people as well as Dr. Soderquist whom my pet normally sees.

This place is only good for simple services, like shots. I don’t recommend taking any pet here if it’s ill. I will never take any of my pets here for anything.

Banfield's service is not bad, and the staff and veterinarians are friendly but the Boise location is very understaffed. They are closed Fri - Mon sporadically. My senior dog had an emergency and I had to take him elsewhere to be seen because Banfield was closed. I pay for a monthly wellness plan so I wasn't thrilled to pay more at a different vet just so he could be seen. They also promise calls that never come. They need to hire more staff and at least one more doctor.

Me and my dog have had nothing but good experiences at this location. When he was a wee lad he swallowed a bone that was about his size. They were able to induce vomiting and get it out. Other than that he's had typical the typcial vaccinations and checkups. The vets have been attentive and interested in his well being. I find the annual billing plan to be pretty convenient.
