My in for Whole Hearted canned dog food. Disappointed in the lack of variety. Seems like the Petco brand is very liked/purchased. Shipping/stocking should be adjusted so all customers continue satisfaction.

staff is so helpful. I needed to find the birthday cake for my baby's birthday on Saturday. She walked me to the isle and pointed out the product I was looking for. the cashier was sweet to ask whose birthday it was.

I had a great experience with the excellent staff at PetCo Pearl City! Danny helped me with my parrot adoption and was so attentive. He was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of great insights into bird care. He was friendly and never pressured me into a sale, even after three visits. A special shout-out to Danny for his professionalism and help!

I was very dissatisfied with my recent trip to this store. I approached the cash register to check out. The cashier informed me there was a line (which I wasn't initially aware of). I acknowledged that and apologized for not seeing the line. I then noticed there was only one customer in line ahead of me, with two cashiers. The other cashier was almost finished with the transaction. So I asked, "ok, can I just wait here since there's only one person in line?" The employee responded that I still had to walk around to get in line, even though there was clearly no one else approaching or in the line. So I did. As soon as I walked up, the cashier I was speaking with stepped away from his register, and the customers in front of me moved to the other cashier to check out. I then waited for their transaction to complete and approached the cashier. The initial cashier then started to walk back and forth, appearing to stock things or work on "go-backs", or whatever it may be called at Petco...which is fine. I then asked him during one of his passes, "So did you just not want to help me out? Is that what it was"? The cashier who was helping me immediately said, "Wait, what's going on?" I explained what happened, but he abruptly cut me off and said, "Well, that's fine, I'm helping you now." I asked him if he was the manager, and he said "yes". I said it seemed his cashier didn't want to help me; he told me to stand in line and waited for me to do so before stepping away. The manager didn't offer anything else to me, other than, "That's fine, I'm helping you now". So then I asked the manager shortly after this, "Do you understand at least where I'm coming from? If he had to go stock things, that's fine, but maybe just tell me that instead of walking away on the premise of telling me to go wait in line." The manager again insisted that nothing went awry. He didn't seem concerned about the blatant lack of customer service provided by the initial cashier. I completed my transaction and left. This was after spending close to $70 on a transaction for our new puppy. This is my first trip to this PetCo and probably my last.
I think there could have been better communication with the customer (me), such as "I'm sorry, sir, I have to go stock," or "I'm sorry, sir, my manager said I had to do x/y/z." He could have told me anything other than "you still have to stand in line," and then walk away from his register. I would have easily understood that. Instead, he appeared not to want to assist me with my transaction, for no apparent reason. The manager was also quick to interrupt me and to offer no alternative or follow-up communication beyond "I'm helping you now," as if to say, "just let it go." It's interesting to see the manager's lack of effort to conduct unbiased questioning into the situation. It's worth noting that I was acting very calmly and was not yelling or throwing a fit. It was clear to me that the employees did not appreciate me calling them out on their lack of service. Just felt like I was yet again another number. Hope you have a great day.

I scheduled a grooming appointment at Petco (Kamehameha location) on 12/6/2025 at 8:30 AM with Tara, who introduced herself as the grooming leader. Unfortunately, she denied service and cancelled my puppy’s appointment after noticing crusty eyes, insisting that I first obtain medical clearance to confirm he would not react to their shampoos or conditioners.
While I understand the importance of pet safety, Tara’s approach felt dismissive and unprofessional. Instead of handling the situation with care, she acted as though she were diagnosing a severe illness, which is outside her role as a groomer. She even suggested I go to a nearby “Doghouse Groomer” because, in her words, “they don’t have rules there.”
As a nurse, I value professionalism and ethical service. What I experienced today was the opposite—staff who seemed more interested in chatting with coworkers than honoring scheduled appointments. My dog, Jason, has been groomed here long before Tara’s tenure, yet this time the appointment was cancelled without reasonable accommodation.
This kind of employee will be the downfall for PETCO business.
I cannot recommend this location anymore due to poor service ethics and inconsistency. If there were an option to give zero stars, I would. Customers deserve reliable care, not arbitrary cancellations or dismissive attitudes.
