- TWThea WrightNov 11, 20251.0I’m very disappointed with my recent experience at this Kailua Kona petco location. Last night we arrived 30 min before closing, looking at fish options and food for our beta fish at home.- Asked an associate what fish would be okay with a beta fish and she immediately says “nothing, no fish would fit in with a beta fish because they’re aggressive” then she goes about continuing what she was doing. So I looked up options online and found like 20 other fish that can share a tank with a beta. Then ask the associate again and her colleague if we can buy 2 fishes 10 min before closing and both ladies says they’re done selling fish for the day. Which was odd. Then we proceeded to purchase our beta fish food and ask another associate at the register what are the hours/ cut off people can buy fish. She has to check with the same ladies that refuse to sell us the fish and said “ we won’t be selling fish tomorrow because we will be doing maintenance on the tanks, we will continue selling fish on Wednesday after 2pm and on Thursday after 12pm…. I have never in my life heard of a cut off on when you can buy/ sell fish at a petco. Aren’t you open? Why are you refusing business? I think these ladies were just lazy to do their job and didn’t want to assist customers who was happy to purchase. Petco you need to look into the Kailua Kona location. This happened last night 11.10.25 at 650pm 2 older ladies stocking shelves refused business with a paying customer.
