We spend a lot of money with Pets at Home because we genuinely like the brand, the products, and what it offers.
Unfortunately, tonight’s experience was disappointing. We weren’t given a receipt, and within minutes of making a purchase my partner returned to the till after realising he had picked up the wrong item. The transaction is clearly visible on my Apple Pay if any proof was required, and this all happened within a matter of minutes.
Despite this, we were told that the difference could not be refunded back to the card and were only offered a gift card instead. What made it more frustrating was that it was the same member of staff who had served us moments earlier. Shortly afterwards, another member of staff who had been outside the front of the store came in and processed the refund without issue.
We wouldn’t normally complain, but customer service and consistency matter. Based on this experience, we’ll likely continue shopping at the Ludlow and Telford stores in future. Young staff can be a real asset when properly supported, but good customer service and confidence in handling straightforward situations are essential.

I was served today in the Kidderminster branch by a lovely young lady called Kat, I would say very appt name for the shop 😂
First of all when I entered the shop, she was a great help to me and Had a wealth of knowledge in a chosen field of work and pointed me in the right direction for what I was looking for after a lengthy conversation, Then I seem to have had problems with my pets at Home app and she kindly sorted it out for me, Very much appreciated 🙏, And I’ll also say she is a great commodity to the company, thank for your help Kat 🙏 kind regards, Mr. Knowles.

I’m really disappointed with the customer service I received at the Pets at Home store in Kidderminster, particularly from the store manager.
I visited the store to return some puppy pads that I had purchased just two days earlier. Unfortunately, I hadn’t been given a receipt at the time of purchase, but I provided my bank statement clearly showing a £16 transaction from the store. Despite this, the manager refused the return, stating that the statement wasn’t sufficient proof that the item was purchased there, as the product itself wasn’t branded. I was also told they couldn’t locate the purchase through my Pets Club card, which was frustrating.
What made the situation worse was that a staff member even acknowledged seeing me walk into the store with the item, yet the manager repeatedly dismissed this and simply kept saying “it’s policy,” without offering any flexibility or attempting to help further.
Thankfully, when I contacted customer services, they were able to locate my purchase almost immediately and provided me with the details needed to process a refund. Their support was excellent and exactly what I would expect from a company like Pets at Home.
It’s a shame that the in-store experience didn’t reflect the same level of service. The contrast between the helpfulness of the customer service team and the unhelpful attitude of the store manager was stark. I hope this store reviews how situations like this are handled in the future.
