We have been loyal clients of The Groom Room in Nuneaton since adopting our dog. Until recently, our experiences had always been commendable. However, our latest visit significantly marred our opinion due to unprofessional behavior from one of the staff members, who demonstrated a considerable lack of understanding and courtesy towards us and their ability to understand basic grooming instructions. In contrast, another staff member familiar with Sirius reassured us she got our instructions.
Upon picking up our dog, we were subjected to discourtesy from the same staff member who had initially failed to understand basic instructions. She negligently tossed the service paperwork across the counter and mishandled the receipt before begrudgingly handing it back in a crumpled state, without offering any apology. Distressingly, our dog exhibited signs of emotional and physical discomfort on the day and the following day, characterized by diarrhoea, vomiting, and his eyes, which revealed he had been crying when we picked him up—a clear indicator of the stress and discomfort he experienced. We tried calling them today, unsuccessfully, to enquiry if we was fed during his stay.
Further, the grooming quality was substandard compared to our previous visits. We noticed bald spots on his tail, and the specific grooming instructions were not adhered to. Despite requesting a specific guard size for his back, the fur was left much longer, well above the requested length.
Our attempts to communicate with The Groom Room for clarification have been unsuccessful, raising serious concerns about the treatment and care our dog received. Adding to our apprehensions were the safety measures, or the lack thereof, for the dogs in their care. Specifically, the practice of attaching dogs solely with a leash to a suction cup on the glass windows appears highly unsafe and inadequate for ensuring their security, especially in an environment where large and small dogs are mixed. This was further highlighted by the presence of a large, energetic, yet unmuzzled Rottweiler dog, emphasizing the potential risks in such settings.
This disappointing experience has compelled us to reconsider using their services in the future. The lack of professionalism, disregard for safety, and failure to meet previously set grooming standards have led us to advise other pet owners to exercise caution and trust their instincts when choosing grooming services.
Unless the Groom Room takes remediate actions regarding our concerns we will, unfortunately, be looking for alternative options
