Last week my cat returned from going missing for a few days and was sadly very unwell. I immediately took him to the vets and he was given an anti sickness injection, I was told to keep an eye on him and bring him back if he didn’t progress positively. Sadly he didn’t move, he simply sat in the same place. Did not eat, drink or use the bathroom. When I took him back to the vets I was very upset as anyone would be taking their pet to a vets unwell. Upon going to the vet, I was treated very rudely and spoken to in a way that made me feel horrible, this was all due to the costs of treatment that were going to cost upwards of £2800 from the previous conversations I had. I know my cat and I knew he was not in a well state, discussion turnt to welfare euthanasia. They recommend that he would be put down due to the ongoing decline that had happened very quickly. I sadly had to agree because it was the humane thing to do, it wouldn’t be fair to put him through this. The compassion I was shown was appalling and the compassion my cat was shown was disgraceful. He was tipped out of his cage by the vet, I was asked if I wanted to stay for the procedure to which I said yes. However, when he brought in my cat the vet pulled on him arm as he was moving, the injection hadn’t yet gone in. The vet still attempted this procedure knowing that he was stressed, the cannula was ripped out due to him having his arm pulled in my belief. He whisked him off and sedated him, he explained that my cat has been redressed where the cannula was as it bled. He then had to administer the euthanasia but kidney (I know this is a route the procedure may take). I waited in the waiting room and the only positive I have from this entire process is that the reception ladies are the most kindest, compassionate people you will meet. A stark difference to the vet who brought my cat to me and left me firstly without explaining when I could pay. To be honest, the entire process was awful. Euthanising a pet is never a pleasant thing, it is a horrible thing to experience. But seeing the way my cat was treated when he was so unwell was appalling, alongside the sheer lack of compassion the vet gave me. Thank you however to the amazing lady at the reception, you are great at your job!

On the day 8am queue for appointments. My mother is a disabled pensioner, so when her dog needs to see the vet I help. But now you cant make an early appointment in advance, but have to call at 8am, on the day!!! I asked what day did they have an early appointment to be told, a couple days later but then said for the 9.30 I wanted would also be call at 8am. People have busy lives so I cant clear a morning just hoping to get an appointment. Why on earth if you have a clear time slot cant you just book it as before. And to say use the Internet my mum is 82, she doesn't have the Internet. It's ridiculous and we'll have to move vets.
I did call after posting this to confirm the transfer of my mothers dog to another vet. Had a very similar conversation about could have asked for another day. To which I said again, I had asked for a morning when I didnt need to call but wasn't given the choice. Loving the new vet, had same day appointment but do appreciate, time may tell.
Have to add that the new vet said in Bonnie's notes, she probably had a water infection, high protein and crystals in her urine. We were disgusted to hear this as we were never told. Had paid for Bonnie to have the test! But never told she had an infection. It was the reason we went in. And the new vet was also shocked that your vet wanted to amputate bonnies tail when she had a cyst on it. Lucky for her it burst and with home care she was and is completely fine.

Very disappointed when a consultation resulted in complete wrong diagnosis costing in excess of £100 when calling to tell vet the problem i diagnosed myself was unable to get necessary medication without further consultation and cost as a pensioner and at this time of year was unable to continue with necessary treatment making my cats recovery longer.
