I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Beechwood Vets.
I brought my dog Loki in with symptoms of Cervical IVDD and was met with very little support or exploration of treatment options. Instead, I was repeatedly pressured by the vet, Ashley, to consider euthanasia, being told there was essentially no hope because he was buckling.
What I found particularly upsetting was how my concerns were handled. When I questioned the advice and referenced my own understanding, I was dismissed and told I was being misled by social media. At one point this was even laughed off, which felt completely unprofessional and undermining during an already distressing situation.
What concerned me most was the lack of basic care. I asked multiple times for Loki’s bladder to be drained, and this was refused, as it was suggested there was no point if he was going to be put to sleep. This left us feeling completely helpless and pushed toward a decision no owner should be rushed into.
Trusting my instincts, I contacted a specialist neurologist myself. Despite being told Beechwood had spoken to them and they couldn't see Loki until the following day (which Ashley stated it would certainly be too late and that my dog was going to die, I was advised to take Loki in immediately. He underwent surgery and we are now 5 days post op, and he is recovering amazingly and walking.
Had I followed the advice given at Beechwood, my dog would not be here today.
I understand vets have to make difficult clinical judgments, but this experience felt like a lack of knowledge around IVDD and a failure to fully consider or communicate all available options.
I would strongly encourage anyone in a similar situation at Beechwood to seek a second opinion.

Always friendly helpful and professional they explain clearly what's wrong with the pet and what they are doing to help and make it better again. And when they tell you to insure your pet listen to them they are not just after your money it seems to be the way of the business now that you will have to pay Big for any treatment when illness or accident will surely arrive. But all the vets are the same now so in the grand scheme of things Beechwood are definitely among the best and how long they have been around has been a testament to that.
