We were long-time Pets at Home members and recently lost our beloved dog. During such a difficult time, we visited the store to ask what we needed to do regarding our dog's account and membership.
Unfortunately, the experience felt very disappointing. When we spoke to reception, we were simply told to delete our dog's profile online and that was the extent of the support offered. There was no acknowledgement of our loss, no sympathy card and no information about any bereavement support or services that might be available.
After years of being loyal customers, we left feeling like our relationship with the company was purely transactional rather than valued. A small gesture of compassion can make a significant difference when a family is grieving the loss of a pet.
I hope Pets at Home will consider improving how they support customers during these difficult moments.
