  We took our 4 month old Border Collie in to have his first groom today. Upon entry, we were met by three ladies and booked in. The lady who booked us in said ‘You’ve put down that he’s a border collie?’ in a tone that suggested she was sceptical. We reconfirmed his breed and the price of the cut and were told to come back in 50mins, which we did. Upon our return, the ‘most experienced groomer’ (so called because she made it quite clear to us…) pointedly said to me ‘I have a lot of questions’, to which I said ‘fire away’. She then proceeded to ask (more monologue than ask to be fair) about how we bath the dog, groom him, how we train him and how we need to focus more on being the ‘alpha’ and how ‘it will only get worse’ and what we ‘need’ to do so he gets used to being groomed. This was quite affronting - we’d deliberately taken the dog to be groomed so that he could have exposure to this and get used to it. We’d made it clear that it was his first time. To be met with what can only be described as a schoolboy’s telling off felt completely uncalled for and quite frankly, I don’t like being told what I ‘need’ to do. Suggestions would be nice, but right now what I ‘need’ to do is find a more welcoming dog groomer. To top the whole experience off, we found that the ‘most experienced groomer’ had actually cut the cluster of hairs on the dog’s genitals, which are necessary for directing urine away from the body and preventing the dog from getting potential irritation. Pretty poor for someone so well informed I would say…

  Got the grooms I wanted for my dogs. They asked me about different areas of the dogs fur and asked what length I wanted it cutting to - and cut it that length too! I've sometimes found some groomers cut them how they want to and not listened to me. But I was really happy with how the dogs looked after their grooms. And they smelt lovely and clean. Even got their nails clipped which I struggle to do. Would bring them here again for future grooms.

  staff are really great at the groom room, my bulldog his very fussy as to who he comes in contact with but loves it wen I take him to the groom room for his wash nails clipped and ears washed.
