- CCchloeAug 14, 20261.0Did not have a good experience today and will be taking my dog to a different vets in future. My dog has been to this vets 3 times. Each time she has been let through the back door and taken straight in to the vets room as she can’t go in the waiting room due to being reactive. In fact I even phoned the vets before her first ever visit and discussed how they would accommodate her and was told it was no issue and she could just use back entrance to avoid other animals. Today we got to the vets and the vet seemed very annoyed at me and claimed she had to cancel other dogs appointment because of my dog. I have no idea why as when entering the back door she doesn’t have contact with them anyway. Plus there has always been other dogs in the waiting area the past 3 times she had attended and have been no issues. The appointment was extremely rushed possibly lasted 5 minutes . Made me feel like taking my dog there is a burden on them. If there was an issue they could have rang me at any point to rearrange but didn’t.

Luckily we haven't had to use the vets often, however we recently needed surgery for both our boxers, one for a tumour growing in her nail bed and the other suffering with happy tail syndrome. Although the vets we saw were competent and diagnosed both dogs correctly, the quotes we received for surgery seemed extortionate...my mum recommended a vets near where she lived and so we registered and travelled to have both surgeries...the cost initially given was £2300 for one and £2400 for the other. We have now paid, just £780 for both dogs, including aftercare and medication. Such a shame that some vets overcharge for profiteering purposes...so many of us that own animals, medical treatments should be affordable. Staff are very welcoming and caring, so nothing negative in regards to that. The vets we used were gobsmacked at what we had been quoted and agreed that it was shameful to look to charge per owners these sorts of prices.
