I visited the Charlton store today with my 10-year-old daughter to purchase guppies. Even though we provided all the details about our aquarium, the staff refused the sale because we didn't know the exact sex of our current fish. They invasively demanded to see private photos of my fish tank on my personal phone.When I took my phone out to look for the customer service number to report this, the employee literally spied over my shoulder at my screen and mocked me with sarcastic comments. It was highly unprofessional, intimidating, and deeply upsetting for my child.The hypocrisy is shocking: while the staff interrogates honest, paying customers in a city where actual crime goes unnoticed, their own display tanks were full of dead fish left unattended. Absolute lack of basic animal welfare standards and zero respect for privacy. Avoid this branch.

I absolutely hate almost all the staff at this shop; they are unfriendly, grumpy, and constantly unpleasant. I feel threatened and mentally tortured every time I come here.

I have bought few packs of hay couple weeks ago thinking I’ll use it all so I didn’t take the receipt, sadly my pet past away and I haven’t opened any hay, I have tried returning the hay to the store with my bank statement and pets at home staff has refused me saying they cannot refund me, I asked if they had any info in their system, maybe they could locate my purchase the amount and day, they said that they can’t because they don’t keep any information regarding customers or their system. Because I could not return in store I have contacted customer service and they tried locating my purchase using my membership card, unfortunately they could not as the card has not been scanned for 6 months. Every time I shop at pets at home, I was asked about my address and last name to locate the membership that I have, and they were able to do so. I don’t understand how they could not locate this transaction for me to return the hay that I have bought. I hope this issues can be fixed so other customers would not have to suffer to return their goods after they lost their pet.
