Some dog breeds, such as border terriers, need to be handstripped at least twice a year. If you think this might be something your dog could benefit from, talk to one of the salon team.

This involves removing small mats in areas like under the legs or behind the ears.

If your dog has a few mats in different areas of their coat, we’ll spend time slowly removing these and can advise on brushing techniques you can do at home to avoid the mats returning.

We always put the welfare of the dogs in our care first, which is why we won’t de-mat for longer than 15 minutes. If we find that this would be necessary, we’ll discuss clipping, which is not only more comfortable for your dog but will cause them less stress. Should this be necessary, you’ll be asked to sign our Clipping Policy and we’ll guide you through what to expect following their groom.
