I live in Birstall and usually visit my local Pets at Home, where the staff always make me feel welcome. Today I stopped in at the Keighley store while I was passing by Greggs and thought I’d take the opportunity to ask for some advice.
Unfortunately, the experience was really disappointing. The member of staff I approached turned her back on me twice, only turning her head to speak to me. It felt dismissive, disrespectful, and completely unwelcoming and I was left feeling like I had done something wrong simply for asking a question.
This is not the standard of customer service I expect. Anxiety is a huge issue for so many people these days, and the last thing anyone needs is to feel judged or ignored when they are just trying to get help. The difference between this store and my usual branch is night and day.
I will not be returning to this store and I want to make others aware, especially those who struggle with anxiety. I would strongly urge management to invest in customer service training so that staff learn how to engage with customers respectfully. Nobody should leave a shop feeling like a burden for simply asking a question.
