Awful experience, myself and my girlfriend went in store to get a syrian hamster after buying a perfectly suitable cage by RSPCA guidelines (with our planned, explained modifications of creating holes and adding a mesh), where we were met by a lady who asked us for a photo of our cage. We showed her and she said it was not suitable. I have attached a photo of our cage in the car for reference. This cage is around 80L in capacity and much larger than the sizes of cage the lady told us to buy instead. She then had the cheek to tell us that THEY follow RSPCA guidelines after talking to her manager, where the guidelines explicitly state that a plastic cage is favourable over a cage with bars. The barred metal cages do nothing but stress the hamster out, cause injury due to falling, and constant biting. Our cage additionally had more depth for the hamster to burrow into, which is an absolute net positive for the hamster. My girlfriend has had numerous hamsters before in the exact same conditions which we explained all of to her, but she was having none of it. Absolutely terrible service, this lady does not know what she's talking about. Veer clear of the lady with glasses and short ginger hair, she seems to be a focal point of other reviews also.
*Sidenote, the store also sell hamster wheels that damage the hamster's back over time as they are too small for the wheel. Terrible care of animals.
