I am very disappointed with my experience today. My kitten underwent a spay surgery at the vets today. After the procedure, she was fitted with a protective collar and I was charged for it. However, as soon as we arrived home, she removed the collar immediately. I spent time trying to put it back on, but she kept taking it off. Concerned that she had a fresh surgical wound and no effective protection, I returned to the vets within 15 minutes and asked whether she could be fitted with a recovery suit instead. When I arrived, I was told that the clinic did not have the correct size available for my kitten and only had a Small size in stock. A member of staff kindly suggested ordering an Extra Small size, which would be more suitable. I agreed and asked them to order it. However, I was then informed at reception that if I wanted the Extra Small size ordered, I would have to return the Small suit that had just been put on my kitten. I explained that this was not possible because she had a fresh surgical wound and could not be left completely unprotected while waiting for the correct size to arrive. I was then told that if I wanted to keep the Small suit until the Extra Small arrived, I would need to pay for both suits, bringing the total cost to approximately £60. What makes this even more frustrating is that I had already paid for the protective collar provided after surgery, despite the fact that my kitten was able to remove it immediately. When I returned home again, she also managed to remove the Small recovery suit. As a result, despite paying for post-operative protection, my kitten was still left without any effective protection for her surgical wound. My main concern is this: how can a veterinary clinic perform surgery on a kitten without having suitable post-operative protection available in the correct size? A protective collar that does not stay on and a recovery suit that is far too large are not practical solutions for a kitten recovering from surgery. This situation caused unnecessary stress and anxiety at a time when my focus should have been entirely on my kitten’s recovery. I expected better preparation and support following a routine surgical procedure.

Popped into Pets at Home as a bit of a last minute panic mission and honestly couldn’t fault the staff. They were really friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to give proper advice instead of just trying to sell me something. Left feeling much more confident and with exactly what I needed. Really appreciated the help and patience, especially when I clearly looked like I was winging it 🤣 Thank you!

I just wanted to say thank you to Lilly today the shop assistant, she could clearly see my confusion in what food to buy my pom puppy and adult Pom. She came over requesting assistance. asked me all the right questions about their lives and steered me to the right place, she even recommended bone broth. What usually would take me an hour deciding took me only ten minutes. Lilly definitely deserves some recognition. Thank you.
