  The staff member who checked me in was friendly, but the overall experience was poor. Prices have increased significantly, with almost everything now treated as a paid add-on. What used to be a £65 groom is now £79 just to request a specific coat length. It feels like there’s a constant push to charge extra. I was told my dog would be ready around 1pm and that I’d be contacted when she was ready. Instead, I received a call at 13:05 asking if I was on my way, not informing me she was ready. When my wife arrived shortly after, we were charged a £10 late fee. This was never mentioned at drop-off, and we were only contacted after the estimated collection time. My wife was then told I had been informed about the late fees on the call. That’s simply not true. I explained my wife would be collecting after finishing a swim lesson with our daughter and was told “okay, see you soon”. No mention of late fees at any point. We had stopped using The Groom Room previously due to declining quality and rising prices, instead going to Jazz Up Your Paws in town, but gave it another try as we needed a last minute cut. This confirmed nothing has improved. It feels far more focused on maximising charges than providing a good customer experience. The only reason this isn’t a 1-star review is that the groom itself was acceptable and check-in was smooth. Beyond that, disappointing.

  The place is fine, ignore the negative reviews, it is not the reality of the place today and I am glad we still went despite what people have said on Google reviews. We took our 4 month puppy there this morning for his first ever visit, and Sammy took great care of him. Her work was excellent tidying our puppy up and we are very pleased. We shall be back in a few months for his first adult groom.

  would not recommend taking your dog or puppy to the groom room - instead, I would advise looking for an independent groomers. I personally found the staff here quite unprofessional - one calling a dog overdramatic for being clearly a little distressed which I didn’t appreciate at all! the environment seems quite stressful for dogs to be honest. I used to take my pup here for introduction puppy grooms and she hated going, which is why I stopped taking her and found an independent groomer who instead showed so much patience, understanding and care. the final straw for me was when the groom room would insist that I wait to be called on the phone before returning and picking my puppy up, only to one day not/forget to call. I waited in clear view outside the groomers and could hear my puppy crying in the back; there was no apology for the misunderstanding and seemingly no concern that she was clearly scared or stressed while waiting for me. also I found the services to be a little expensive and found the list of additional treatments that were always offered a bit strange - these ‘paw tidies’, ‘ear cleans’, ‘signature fragrance’ etc are all things that are generally included by most independent groomers! pup did always leave looking and smelling nice but clearly was not happy being groomed there and I’m glad I didn’t continue returning with her.

  Sanitary trim gone wrong My dog had his fifth free groom. Picked up, Max had been good they said and paperwork didn't suggest otherwise. Had to return the next day as Max was in pain overnight with very sore, red marked privates becoming lumpy later on, several nics and was scooting due to discomfort in the bottom area. I'd also paid a vet for cream for his discomfort. I didn't receive a sorry but was met with rudeness, denial and her insulting my intelligence. Tara claimed he was full of knots so shaved him round his hygiene area, said I wasn't told of this as she deals with it all the time, told me I'd signed the TS & C's so to expect razor burn from shaving, denied the nics were from the shave but me with my daily brushing, denied notes were on the system that I'd insisted six months previously that only scissors were to be used on his privates and said I was rude at the previous groom to their colleague apparently asking of his qualifications. This was in response to me asking of hers due to her assessment in 2 weeks. The conversation ended abruptly with, we will have to agree to disagree. There was no empathy towards my dog, the situation or reimbursement for the cream. I have photos but Google not allowing.

  Think the previous person has gone on the wrong website. We had our 1st appt this morning with our 2 Beddlington terriers and can't praise the staff and Lucy who groomed them enough. We are really pleased with how the dogs look after a few bad experiences with other groomers. Thanks so much see you in 8weeks.
