- LDLeanne Dunmilltoday5.0Will and the team at Lumbry are nothing short of exceptional. We are under the cardiologist department. I have not had care like it for my animals EVER. My poor little cat has congestive heart failure and we are very much at the end stages of his life, I cannot thank Lumbry Park enough for looking after my best mate, ensuring we are heard, supported and even helping us out with urgent medication when my own vets couldn't help. You wont get better care anywhere else.
- ADAthol Dipple1 day ago5.0We took our Wire Hair Fox Terrier to Lumbry Park 2 weeks ago after an urgent referral by our Isle of Wight vet for a serious operation for possible cancer. The oncologist, Quentin Fornier and the surgeon, Jim were so friendly, helpful, professional and caring for Reggie and kept us informed at all stages. When we collected Reggie, India was just as pleasant and knowledgable making what was a very worrying event much easier to cope with. The follow up from Quentin has also been excellent. Thank you so much to everyone at Lumbry Park. Reggie is now back to his cheeky self
- VMVikki Moreman2 days ago5.0We had a very poorly dog who was referred from an Emergency Vet. Treatment began immediately. We were very well informed of the situation with 2 calls a day with a thorough and true recount of the current condition. We were invited to visit, even though our little girl was in ICU and nothing was too much trouble. Everything she was hooked up to and all the machines were explained to us. On our next visit we were given a quiet family room to spend time with her. There was no rush, we were given food to give her and the space to take her out for a walk. When she was discharged, the information we were given was very thorough and informative, they liasied with our current vet for continued treatment. Our special thanks go to Heidi was absolutely AMAZING all the way through. Because of her and her team and the care everyone showed our doggo, she came home a week later, having come from a critical condition. Follow up has also been fantastic with speedy responses to even the smallest question. Thank you EVERYONE at Lumbry Park

They took really good care of our dog Kevin, got him scanned, diagnosed and treated very quickly for a massive hepatocelluar carcinoma. Very good follow up care too when we had some post op concerns. Alex was both professional and reassuring and showed good judgement and clinical decision making. We are all very thankful to the team.

Referred for emergency care they took time to listen and clearly explain every step of Hector's care. He had a splenectomy and returned to remove his thyroid as post treatment CT review had picked something else up. Barney explained all options available with no pressure to decide. Pricing was very clear and reasonable for a specialist vet. He kept me updated throughout both surgeries. Clara and Alex were very thorough with discharge care instructions and available on the phone to support. We didn't meet the nurses but know they kept a close eye on Hector. Cannot recommend Lumbry Park highly enough, nor give all the team enough thanks for taking such great care of our boy.

As we are a referral only clinic your vet will need to refer you by completing an online referral form via our website to start the referral process. Our reception staff will then contact you using the information provided and an appointment can be arranged at a mutually convenient time.
What will happen during the appointment?
During your appointment, we will obtain a detailed history of your pet’s medical background as well as information on the current problem. A thorough clinical examination of your pet will then be performed and any findings and provisional diagnoses will be fully discussed with you at that time. We make every effort to perform investigations and possible surgery during the same visit.
How long is my appointment going to be?
A first consultation will usually be around 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the circumstances.
How long will my pet be in the hospital?
This is entirely dependent on the problem. Our reception staff will be able to give you approximate time scales and help you plan your trip.
The Specialist referral practice is a long way away. Will I have to go back many times?
Not necessarily. Often follow-up tests will be performed by your own vet and future care is overseen by your Specialist. We work with your vet to minimise journey times whilst optimising care for your pet.
Why should I travel further to see a Specialist?
A Specialist is an expert in their particular field and your vet will refer you to the appropriate specialist according to your pet’s presenting symptoms and needs.
What is a Specialist referral?
A referral to a member of our expert team gives you the peace of mind that your pet is in the very best of hands.
A Veterinary Specialist is similar to a consultant doctor. To become a Specialist, a vet must focus entirely on their area of specialisation for three to five years, training under an experienced Specialist in that field. During this time they will examine, diagnose and treat a wide range of cases, publish clinical research in this field and prove themselves to be at the forefront of their discipline before completing advanced examinations.
How do I claim from my insurance company?
If you have pet insurance, you will need to inform your insurance company as soon as possible that you wish to make a claim. They will inform you of the process and, depending on your insurance company’s processes, you will need to bring a claim form, or your policy number, with you to your appointment. Any excesses should be paid at the time of consultation or discharge.
Direct claims – A direct claim is when your insurance company reimburses the veterinary practice. Each insurance company varies with their policy on paying a veterinary practice so please check with your insurance provider prior to your appointment. Please note, we do charge a Direct Claim Fee for this service. Please call us for information.
Indirect claims – An indirect claim is when the insurance company reimburses the policyholder. In this case, you would pay your pet’s veterinary bill in full before the claim can be processed and the insurance company will send you payment directly.
In the unfortunate event your insurance company refuses to pay your claim, or the cost exceeds your policy limit, please be aware that you will be responsible for the full payment of your bill.
